“Play conservatory is an organization dedicated to providing pre- professional theatre arts training for young people and producing exciting live theatre for family audiences.”
“Our workshops offered basic training in acting, movement, voice, and/or stagecraft, for ages 4 years old up to age 18. Students who desired to be part of fully produced play got involved in our three projects: annie jr., james and the giant peach, and tarzan. Each project fostered the development of onstage performance technique as well as skills in professionalism, literacy, and leadership. On each project, students worked with highly qualified teaching artists, who were hired to direct, perform, design, build and/or manage a production of superior quality. Our projects are ambitious explorations of diverse cultures and time periods with stories that have accessible and universal themes and appeal to a general audience. Our process is rigorous, transparent, and nurturing. Our product is theatre that is compelling and magical. In 2014 play conservatory produced its 28th play since its origin in 2007. Our students learned to work cooperatively, think creatively, and become more self-confident and compassionate, all within the context of the theatre arts.”
