| ACTIVITIES REPORT FOR 2016 SPRING WORKSHOPS 2016 PLAY CONSERVATORY OFFERED WORKSHOPS FOR YOUTH DURING THE SPRING OF 2016. THESE WORKSHOPS COVERED A WIDE VARIETY OF THEATER ARTS SKILLS. WE CONTINUED HOSTING THESE WORKSHOPS AT THE HORN FAMILY YMCA FACILITY IN THE GREATER ALBUQUERQUE AREA. THE YMCA IS MAKING A LARGE COMMUNITY ROOM AVAILABLE IN EXCHANGE FOR PLAY OFFERING DISCOUNTS TO ITS MEMBER FAMILIES WHO WANT TO TAKE PART IN OUR THEATER PROGRAMS. SUMMER PROGRAM - 2016 OUR 2016 SUMMER THEATER PROGRAM CREATED A SHOW UNPRECEDENTED IN THE GREATER ALBUQUERQUE AREA FOR YOU THEATER. WE PRODUCED A 5-WEEK SUMMER STOCK PROGRAM THAT RESULTED IN A TWO-ACT MUSICAL PERFORMED IN ENGLISH AND AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE. THIS 2016 SUMMER PROGRAM CONTINUED OUR EFFORTS TO MAKE THEATER AVAILABLE TO AT RISK YOUTH, INCLUDING HOMELESS AND THOSE LIVING IN THE FOSTER CARE SYSTEM. AND, WE VENTURED INTO A SECTOR OF YOUTH WHO ALMOST NEVER GET A CHANCE TO EXPERIENCE THEATER THE DEAF AND HARD OF HEARING. THE DONORS CONTINUED THEIR GIVING, AS PER THE GIFT AGREEMENT, OF 2,000 IN 2016. THE GIFT IS NOT RESTRICTED TO ANY SPECIFIC ACTIVITY, BUT IS RATHER DEDICATED TO CREATING OPPORTUNITIES FOR WORTHY YOUTH TO PARTICIPATE IN THEATER WITH PLAY CONSERVATORY. PLAY HAS COMMITTED TO RAISE A MINIMUM OF 2,000/YEAR IN MATCHING FUNDS TOWARD THIS MEMORIAL GIFT. AND, WE WERE SUCCESSFUL IN DOING THAT IN 2016. “Activities report for 2016 spring workshops 2016 play conservatory offered workshops for youth during the spring of 2016. These workshops covered a wide variety of theater arts skills. We continued hosting these workshops at the horn family ymca facility in the greater albuquerque area. The ymca is making a large community room available in exchange for play offering discounts to its member families who want to take part in our theater programs. Summer program - 2016 our 2016 summer theater program created a show unprecedented in the greater albuquerque area for you theater. We produced a 5-week summer stock program that resulted in a two-act musical performed in english and american sign language. This 2016 summer program continued our efforts to make theater available to at risk youth, including homeless and those living in the foster care system. And, we ventured into a sector of youth who almost never get a chance to experience theater the deaf and hard of hearing. Our aim is to give youth who have never had a chance to experience theater something magical to engage in. Our cast of 23 included 3 children who are in the foster care system and 2 actors who were deaf or hard of hearing. Play also increased its fundraising efforts substantially knowing that our new effort to tap these markets would result in cultivating families who often do not have the funds needed to engage in our programs. Fundraising and income play continued steps to increase its fundraising, targeting individuals who have given small amounts consistently in the past and getting many of them to increase their amount. We also identified additional known to the trustees individuals, most of whom had never given, and received first ever donations from them. Our private donor target list is growing. Play implemented its first ever memorial gift, in the name of a student who did a lot of theater with us and passed away in early 2015. The donors continued their giving, as per the gift agreement, of 2,000 in 2016. The gift is not restricted to any specific activity, but is rather dedicated to creating opportunities for worthy youth to participate in theater with play conservatory. Play has committed to raise a minimum of 2,000/year in matching funds toward this memorial gift. And, we were successful in doing that in 2016. Expenses play continued to pay down old debt from 2013, 2014, 2015 and made good progress in early 2016 on that front going from 24,000 to 11,000 at the beginning of 2016. The summer program did, however,run short on income versus costs. And, we closed the year with about 17,000 total debt. We continue to seek programs that produce a net and allow us to pay down debt from our earned income. Play continued in 2016 to operate as an all volunteer organization where administrative, fundraising and other indirect costs are concerned. Our earned and donated funds are all directed at the direct costs of providing exciting and excellent theater for youth.”

THESE WORKSHOPS COVERED A WIDE VARIETY OF THEATER ARTS SKILLS. WE CONTINUED HOSTING THESE WORKSHOPS AT THE HORN FAMILY YMCA FACILITY IN THE GREATER ALBUQUERQUE AREA. THE YMCA IS MAKING A LARGE COMMUNITY ROOM AVAILABLE IN EXCHANGE FOR PLAY OFFERING DISCOUNTS TO ITS MEMBER FAMILIES WHO WANT TO TAKE PART IN OUR THEATER PROGRAMS. SUMMER PROGRAM - 2016 OUR 2016 SUMMER THEATER PROGRAM CREATED A SHOW UNPRECEDENTED IN THE GREATER ALBUQUERQUE AREA FOR YOU THEATER. WE PRODUCED A 5-WEEK SUMMER STOCK PROGRAM THAT RESULTED IN A TWO-ACT MUSICAL PERFORMED IN ENGLISH AND AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE. THIS 2016 SUMMER PROGRAM CONTINUED OUR EFFORTS TO MAKE THEATER AVAILABLE TO AT RISK YOUTH, INCLUDING HOMELESS AND THOSE LIVING IN THE FOSTER CARE SYSTEM. AND, WE VENTURED INTO A SECTOR OF YOUTH WHO ALMOST NEVER GET A CHANCE TO EXPERIENCE THEATER THE DEAF AND HARD OF HEARING. OUR AIM IS TO GIVE YOUTH WHO HAVE NEVER HAD A CHANCE TO EXPERIENCE THEATER SOMETHING MAGICAL TO ENGAGE IN. OUR CAST OF 23 INCLUDED 3 CHILDREN WHO ARE IN THE FOSTER CARE SYSTEM AND 2 ACTORS WHO WERE DEAF OR HARD OF HEARING. PLAY ALSO INCREASED ITS FUNDRAISING EFFORTS SUBSTANTIALLY KNOWING THAT OUR NEW EFFORT TO TAP THESE MARKETS WOULD RESULT IN CULTIVATING FAMILIES WHO OFTEN DO NOT HAVE THE FUNDS NEEDED TO ENGAGE IN OUR PROGRAMS. FUNDRAISING AND INCOME PLAY CONTINUED STEPS TO INCREASE ITS FUNDRAISING, TARGETING INDIVIDUALS WHO HAVE GIVEN SMALL AMOUNTS CONSISTENTLY IN THE PAST AND GETTING MANY OF THEM TO INCREASE THEIR AMOUNT. WE ALSO IDENTIFIED ADDITIONAL KNOWN TO THE TRUSTEES INDIVIDUALS, MOST OF WHOM HAD NEVER GIVEN, AND RECEIVED FIRST EVER DONATIONS FROM THEM. OUR PRIVATE DONOR TARGET LIST IS GROWING. PLAY IMPLEMENTED ITS FIRST EVER MEMORIAL GIFT, IN THE NAME OF A STUDENT WHO DID A LOT OF THEATER WITH US AND PASSED AWAY IN EARLY 2015. THE DONORS CONTINUED THEIR GIVING, AS PER THE GIFT AGREEMENT, OF 2,000 IN 2016. THE GIFT IS NOT RESTRICTED TO ANY SPECIFIC ACTIVITY, BUT IS RATHER DEDICATED TO CREATING OPPORTUNITIES FOR WORTHY YOUTH TO PARTICIPATE IN THEATER WITH PLAY CONSERVATORY. PLAY HAS COMMITTED TO RAISE A MINIMUM OF 2,000/YEAR IN MATCHING FUNDS TOWARD THIS MEMORIAL GIFT. AND, WE WERE SUCCESSFUL IN DOING THAT IN 2016. EXPENSES PLAY CONTINUED TO PAY DOWN OLD DEBT FROM 2013, 2014, 2015 AND MADE GOOD PROGRESS IN EARLY 2016 ON THAT FRONT GOING FROM 24,000 TO 11,000 AT THE BEGINNING OF 2016. THE SUMMER PROGRAM DID, HOWEVER,RUN SHORT ON INCOME VERSUS COSTS. AND, WE CLOSED THE YEAR WITH ABOUT 17,000 TOTAL DEBT. WE CONTINUE TO SEEK PROGRAMS THAT PRODUCE A NET AND ALLOW US TO PAY DOWN DEBT FROM OUR EARNED INCOME. PLAY CONTINUED IN 2016 TO OPERATE AS AN ALL VOLUNTEER ORGANIZATION WHERE ADMINISTRATIVE, FUNDRAISING AND OTHER INDIRECT COSTS ARE CONCERNED. OUR EARNED AND DONATED FUNDS ARE ALL DIRECTED AT THE DIRECT COSTS OF PROVIDING EXCITING AND EXCELLENT THEATER FOR YOUTH. |
