“We are dedicated to ensuring that everyone, regardless of age, income, or background has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive. Our programs, services and initiatives focus on youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Our ymca is founded and led by volunteers from our community. Volunteers also work side by side with us as mentors, coaches, program leaders, fundraisers and in other ways to help strengthen our community.”

“Youth DevelopmentOur YMCA is committed to nurturing the potential of every child and teen. We believe that all kids deserve the opportunity to discover who they are and what they can achieve. That's why we help young people cultivate the values, skills and relationships that lead to positive behaviors, better health and educational achievement. Our YMCA programs such as; Ykids Before/After School Care, Child Watch, Mulberry Bush Preschool, Summer Day Camp, Tiger Sharks Swim Team, Youth Swim Lessons, Youth Fitness/Exercise, Youth Karate/Judo, Youth Arts/Enrichment and Teen Dance offer a range of experiences that enrich cognitive, social, physical and emotional growth. In 2014, we provided Youth Development programs to over 6,000 children ages 6 months through 17 years of age. Expenses include subsidies and direct financial assistance in the amount of over $276,000 that made it possible for us to engage young people that would not otherwise have had the opportunity to participate. This is very important Social Responsibility part as stated below.”

“Healthy LivingThe Y is a leading voice on health and well-being. We bring families closer together, encourage good health and foster connections through fitness, fun and shared interests. As a result, over 6,300 people in our community are receiving the support, guidance and resources they need to achieve greater health in spirit, mind and body. This is particularly important as our nation struggles with an obesity crisis, families struggle with work/life balance and individuals search for personal fulfillment. Our programs include; Family Fitness, Group Exercise, Personal Fitness, Adult Swim lessons, Aqua Fitness, Adapted programs for people with disabilities and CPR/First Aid/Lifeguard Training. In 2014 we provided over $51,000 in financial assistance to people who otherwise may not have been able to afford to participate. This is a very important Social Responsibility part as stated below.”

“Social ResponsibilityOur YMCA believes in giving back and supporting our neighbors. We have been listening and responding to our community's most critical social needs for more than 43 years. The Ocean County YMCA has several Social Responsibility programs. Our 7th grade membership provides a free membership to every 7th grader in Ocean County. In 2014 we were able to serve 177 7th graders. Our Ycares program provides financial assistance to those who may not otherwise have been able to afford to participate in the YMCA programs/services. These two programs are examples of how we deliver training, resources and support that empower our neighbors to affect change, bridge gaps and overcome obstacles. In 2014, we engaged about 1,400 YMCA members, participants and volunteers in activities that strengthen our community and pave the way for future generations to thrive.”
