Behind the tranquil surroundings, in remote and well-hidden parts of the island there are people living below the poverty line, under substandard conditions, suffering from malnutrition, untreated medical issues and a shocking lack of access to medical care and treatment. Government, social, and financial help resources are minimal in Indonesia and the poorest segment of the population is dependent on charity programs to obtain lifesaving or life-changing assistance. Yet many people are not helped by these programs, mainly those who live in the most remote and poorest areas in Bali and are separated from easy access to medical treatment; they are the people who fall through the cracks. IRS990ScheduleF/GrantsToOrgOutsideUSGrp/PurposeOfGrantTxt19J935N-The history of the community where J935N Transforming Cambodia works has its origins in the backstreets of Cambodia's capital, Phnom Penh, in 2006 when a village of 1,000 families were forcibly evicted from their inner-city homes and dumped in a wetland on the outskirts of the city. Our in-country partner Development for the People of Cambodia (DPC) rallied alongside the villagers and set about meeting their immediate needs like food, shelter, and clean drinking water. One of DPC's first initiatives was to construct a modest primary school and provide a free education and meals to the village children, the first in their families to ever set foot in a classroom.
