Mission and Program Overview

Mission

340b health educates and advocates for hospitals eligible to participate in the 340b program in order to increase the affordability and accessibility of health care for patients in need, especially those living with low incomes or in isolated...see schedule ocontinued from page 2...rural communities. Formed in 1993, member hospitals include some of the nation's largest non-profit academic medical centers and some of its smallest rural community-based facilities. The 340b program requires drug manufacturers to provide outpatient drugs at reduced prices to eligible hospitals, clinics, and health centers that serve large numbers of patients with low income and rural patient populations.

Leading advocate & resource for those hospitals that serve their communities through participation in the federal 340b drug pricing program.

Governance Explanations

Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 6

Full members consist of hospitals that qualify for outpatient drug discounts under section 340b of the public health service act.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 11B

The senior vice president of finance and human resources, the president and ceo, the audit committee, and the board review and approve form 990 prior to filing.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12C

The organization requires the board of directors, officers, and all staff to disclose any conflicts of interest on an annual basis. They are also asked to disclose any relevant conflicts prior to board meetings and excuse themselves from discussion or decisions that could impact them financially or where they would otherwise be compromised.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 15

Compensation for the president and ceo was reviewed and approved by the executive committee of the board of directors using advice from a compensation consultant and prior compensation history for the ceo role. The president and ceo determines compensation for the other officers and key employees based on performance, a compensation consultant study undertaken in 2017, and compensation information provided by the american society of association executives based on 2017 data.

Form 990, Part VI, Section C, Line 19

The organization's governing documents, conflict of interest policy, and financial statements are made available upon request.
