The purpose of the partners program is to create relevant and responsive programs and partnerships that support nearly 200 low-income oakland unified school district students and their families each year in their quest to find and access high quality college preparatory educational opportunities and eventually to attend and graduate from college. We do this through three programs: a summer academic enrichment program for middle school students (entering its 28th year); an academic year mentoring and tutoring program to support the summer students during the academic year; and, a high school transition program to help 8th graders and their families better understand the process of high school admissions. The goal is to create a pipeline for these students and their families, guiding them through the transitions between school levels (middle to high school) and through academic and personal challenges, all the way to college matriculation.
To help low-income students access high quality college preparatory educational opportunities.

“The organization does not have any commitees that have authority to act on behalf of the governing body.”
“A full copy of the return is emailed to all trustees with an invitation to join a meeting to review the entire return.”
“As a supporting organization, the trustees of the the partners program primarily serve in a fundraising capacity and do not customarily engage in material transactions that could give rise to potential conflicts. The college preparatory school, its related organization, is primarily responsible for engaging in material contracts and relationships that could potentially give rise to conflicts of interest. Therefore, the trustees, officers, directors, and key employees of the college preparatory school are required to disclose annually whether any interests may give rise to conflicts and regularly monitor and enforce compliance with the established conflict of interest policy.”
“The organization's financial statements, form 990, and governing documents are available upon request. A notice describing availability is posted in plain view in the business office and the partners' office.”
“All business functions are handled by the college preparatory school which does have such policies.”
“The annual draw from the endowment funds program expenditures.”
“The school and tpp are qualified organizations exempt form federal income and california franchise taxes under the provisions of the sections 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code and 23701(d) of the california revenue and taxation code, respectively. The organization has evaluated its current tax positions and has concluded that as of june 30, 2019, the organization does not have any significant uncertain tax positions for which a reserve would be necessary.”

MENTORS TRAVELED BY SCHOOL VAN WEEKLY TO KIPP BRIDGE IN WEST OAKLAND AND CLAREMONT MIDDLE SCHOOL IN ROCKRIDGE. MEANWHILE, APPROXIMATELY 25 MENTORS TUTORED PARTNERS SCHOLARS FROM 16 PARTNER SCHOOLS IN OUTDOOR SPACES, CLASSROOMS, AND THE LIBRARY ON THE COLLEGE PREP CAMPUS. AYM MENTORS AND SCHOLARS CONTINUED TO USE RESOURCES FROM FRECKLE EDUCATION, AN ONLINE SOFTWARE PLATFORM THAT "DIFFERENTIATES INSTRUCTION ACROSS MATH, LANGUAGE ARTS, SOCIAL STUDIES, AND SCIENCE." MENTORS BUILT PROFOUND RELATIONSHIPS AND SUPPORTED THEIR PARTNERS SCHOLARS WITH CUSTOMIZED LEARNING PLANS, AS WELL AS WITH THEIR AUTHENTIC CARE AND UNDIVIDED ATTENTION. THE CONSISTENT PAIRING OF THE SAME MENTOR AND MENTEE, WEEKLY, AT OUR PARTNER SCHOOLS PROVIDED HIGH QUALITY AND INDIVIDUALIZED ACADEMIC SUPPORT. OUR MENTOR-TUTORS ARE ABLE TO CHECK ON THE PROGRESS OF ASSIGNMENTS, TESTS, AND COMPREHENSION OF CORE CONCEPTS, AS WELL AS BUILD STRONGER RELATIONSHIPS WITH STUDENTS THROUGH COMMUNITY-BUILDING ACTIVITIES. IN ADDITION, OUR 1-TO-1 STUDENT-MENTOR ACADEMIC YEAR RATIO ALLOWS FOR STRONG TRUST RELATIONSHIPS TO FORM BETWEEN OUR MENTORS AND THE MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS. |
