The purpose of the partners program is to create relevant and responsive programs and partnerships that support nearly 200 low-income oakland unified school district students and their families each year in their quest to find and access high quality college preparatory educational opportunities and eventually to attend and graduate from college. We do this through three programs: a summer academic enrichment program for middle school students (entering its 28th year); an academic year mentoring and tutoring program to support the summer students during the academic year; and, a high school transition program to help 8th graders and their families better understand the process of high school admissions. The goal is to create a pipeline for these students and their families, guiding them through the transitions between school levels (middle to high school) and through academic and personal challenges, all the way to college matriculation.
