Additional Explanations

Form 990, Part III, Line 2

In 2017 the organization started a new program - disruptive futures dialogues (dfd). Dfd is a new multi-year community engagement that will begin in 2018. The dfd series will leverage and accentuate santa fe's unique assets and capacities to find new pathways forward for progress. The current imagined futures and connect santa fe programs will be rolled into the dfd program in 2018. And the arts + creativity center and nuclear programs will be eliminated.

Financial Statement Notes

PART X, LINE 2:

Crsf is exempt from income taxes under section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code, and has been classified by the internal revenue service as an organization that is not a private foundation. Crsf files federal form 990, return of organization exempt from income tax, with the internal revenue service and copies of these filings with states in which crsf is registered, as required. The statute of limitations for examination of crsf's returns expires three years from the due date of the return or the date filed, whichever is later. Crsf's returns for the years ended december 31, 2014 to 2017, are still open for examination. Crsf would record a liability for uncertain tax positions when it became probable that a loss has been incurred and the amount can be reasonably estimated. Interest would be recognized and accrued related to unrecognized tax benefits in interest expense and penalties in operating expenses. Management continually evaluates expiring statutes of limitations, proposed settlements, changes in tax law and new authoritative rulings. As of december 31, 2017 and 2016, no liabilities for uncertain tax positions have been recorded.
