In 2016 there were 715 volunteers who served in various capacities 27,442 total hours in all of our various programs.

The coat of many colors (comc) is a thrift store operated to accept donations and then re-sale gently used clothing, toys, and other household items. Comc recognizes for non-cash donation revenue, inventory, and cost of goods sold, the value assigned to the item when placed on the floor for re-sale. 2016 sales of donated items was 411,555 as listed on page 9, line 10a. The 251,420 in program service expenses are the total expenditures to operate the store. Of this amount, 78,529 were occupancy expenses associated with our leased facility.

THE VP GAVE AWAY 389,730 OF FOOD AND THE MFP DISTRIBUTED 179,181 OF FOOD TO OUR NEIGHBORS IN NEED. BOTH SERVE A CROSS-SECTION OF PEOPLE INCLUDING FAMILIES WITH YOUNG CHILDREN, THE ELDERLY, VETERANS AND PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES. 580 VOLUNTEERS (11,040 HOURS) SUPPORTED THESE PROGRAMS.

RESOURCE GUIDES WERE DISTRIBUTED TO FAMILIES ON APPROXIMATELY 20 TOPIC AREAS SUCH AS EMPLOYMENT, TRANSPORTATION, MEDICAL CARE AND ADULT EDUCATION. 37 VOLUNTEERS (3,256 HOURS) SUPPORTED THIS PROGRAM. REFERRALS WERE MADE TO MISSION CENTRAL SERVICES INCLUDING FOOD PROGRAMS AND THE VILLAGE LIBRARY DESCRIBED BELOW AND THE FAMILY OPPORTUNITIES PROGRAM WHICH PARTNERS WITH FAMILIES TO ASSIST THEM IN REGAINING FINANCIAL INDEPENDENCE AND RESTORING STABLE HOUSING. TWENTY-THREE HOMELESS OR NEAR-HOMELESS FAMILIES WORKED WITH OUR LICENSED SOCIAL WORKER TO ESTABLISH AND REACH THEIR GOALS THROUGH THE FOP.

MOST OF THE STUDENTS WE SERVE LIVE IN HOMES WHERE ENGLISH IS NOT THE PRIMARY LANGUAGE, SO THIS HELP IS CRUCIAL TO THEIR ACADEMIC SUCCESS. FOR THE SCHOOL YEAR ENDING IN MAY 2016, 92% OF OUR STUDENTS ENDED THE YEAR WITH AN A/B AVERAGE. STUDENTS WHO ARE STRUGGLING IN PARTICULAR AREAS ARE ALSO OFFERED THE OPPORTUNITY TO ATTEND ABBREVIATED TUTORING SESSIONS DURING THE SUMMER MONTHS.

THE 251,420 IN PROGRAM SERVICE EXPENSES ARE THE TOTAL EXPENDITURES TO OPERATE THE STORE. OF THIS AMOUNT, 78,529 WERE OCCUPANCY EXPENSES ASSOCIATED WITH OUR LEASED FACILITY.
