Poptech fellows have achieved their impact by: 1) creating transformational technology platforms that are deployed worldwide; 2) developing new models for getting a product, service or humanitarian aid to the communities that need it; and 3) designing for impact to generate solutions that scale and replicate. Poptech initiatives are exemplar of our ability to facilitate unconventional cross-sector collaboration. In addition, poptech explores unique areas of global interest through poptech labs and salons, as well as its annual thought leadership forum. Harlem first: mapping the health of a community celebrated our longstanding partnership with design for social innovation at the school for visual arts (dsi) in new york. The project leveraged the talent of poptech fellows and tapped the wisdom, commitment and energy of a number of harlem-based organizations and community members, including the arnhold institute for global health. The project was a multi-faceted initiative that provided numerous points of interaction, contemplation and relationship building to assess community health through the lens of policing, surveillance and criminal justice; the impact of unemployment; the visibility of health services; affordable housing; and what a community loses when its longer- term residents leave. The production of impact and social change media is a key to poptech's mission. This capacity enables us to do unique reporting on projects happening within our network, as well as creating documentary bodies of work for select partners. In 2015 we completed an eight-part video series entitled the changing world of work, in collaboration with the envisioning team at microsoft. The next chapter of this initiative will explore the ever-evolving trends that define the global workplace and workforce - both human and machine. Through these activities and more, poptech continues to gain global recognition as a leading participant in the field of social innovation.”
