Rsv - ccs operates two emergency shelters and a transitional housing program that serve all of san diego county. The programs assisted 305 adults and 254 children in fy 11-12, providing families with 14,779 bed nights, services such as counseling, advocacy, legal services, and tangible necessities such as food, clothing, transportation assistance, and furnishings, and other household goods.

Activity 3

PSV - CCS RAPE PREVENTION EDUCATION PROVIDED PRESENTATIONS TO OVER 1,668 PARTICIPANTS LAST YEAR. THIS SERVICE FOCUSES ON RAISING AWARENESS ABOUT SEXUAL ASSAULT, TEACHING SELF-PROTECTION SKILLS THROUGH SELF-DEFENSE TRAINING, AND CHANGING COMMUNITY NORMS TO INCREASE RELATIONSHIP HEALTH AND DECREASE ATTITUDES AND BEHAVIORS THAT TOLERATE AND CONDONE SEXUAL ASSAULT.CCS Prevention Educators provided multi-unit healthy relationship workshops weekly to incarcerated boys and young men living at the Camp Barrett detention facility as part of a special effort to support the healthy development of at-risk youth. The program is funded through a direct contract with the San Diego County Probation Department, which deemed healthy relationship education so important it is a required educational component of the boys' rehabilitation program. Last year, CCS served 414 youth through this program, which provides weekly outreach to Camp Barrett.CCS OPERATED THE ONLY SAN DIEGO COUNTY-FUNDED DOMESTICE VIOLENCE AND SEXUAL ASSAULT HOTLINE, DVLINKS, WHICH RESPONDED TO OVER 10,000 CALLS LAST YEAR. THE HOTLINE STAFF RESPONDED TO 98% OF THESE CALLS WITHIN 60 SECONDS. CCS OPERATED PRIME-TIME BEFORE-AND-AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM THAT PROVIDED ACADEMIC ENRICHMENT, LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT, AND MENTORING TO OVER 125 YOUTH EACH DAY. THE PROGRAM SERVED KINDERGARTEN THROUGH SIXTH GRADE STUDENTS.
