Project GO, Inc. was founded on a vision of assisting low-income residents in the area of energy conservation in 1978, and is at the forefront of the affordable housing crisis in our communities, having provided decent affordable housing since 1995.

Each director receives the draft 990 for review. The Board approves the 990 and documents the approval in the board minutes. Once the Board approves the 990, the 990 is signed by the Executive Director and submitted to the IRS.

Form 990, Part VI, Line 12C: Explanation of Monitoring and Enforcement of Conflicts

Annually the Board reviews the conflict of interest policy. Conflicts of interest are discussed during the board meeting.

The Executive Director's compensation is reviewed and approved annually by the Board of Directors. Compensation for all other employees are derived according to the compensation study performed on a 4-5 year cycle. The Compensation study is conducted by the Personnel Committee.

Part X : FIN48 Footnote

The Organization qualifies for exemption from income taxes under provision Section 501 (c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, and similar provision of state income tax regulation. Accordingly, there is no provision for income taxes recorded in the consolidated financial statements. As required by the Income Tax Topic of FASB ASC 740, the Organization recognizes the effect of income tax positions only if those positions are more likely than not of being sustained. The Organization does not believe its consolidated financial statements include any uncertain tax positions.

In 2016, the following services were provided:764 low-income housing units received energy conservation retrofit, which resulted in a reduction of heating/cooling costs, a more comfortable living environment, and a reduction of natural resources.2,930 low-income households received emergency crisis intervention & home energy assistance payments, which resulted in defraying heating/cooling costs, and avoiding utility shut offs for services.3,599 low-income applications were processed with 2,030 receiving services.109 inefficient refrigerators were replaced; 93 dangerous combustion appliances were repaired or replaced; and 39 cook stoves were replaced which resulted in reducing energy consumption and eliminating health concerns for residents.

Project GO, Inc. Housing Staff are successfully Hands-on managing our five apartment communities, and have housed over 11,781 tenants since 1995.Our collaborations with homeless service providers resulted in stabilized subsidized housing for 21 adults, 8 children, and 2 Veterans, all of who were homeless. These collaborations include a steadfast hand up to assure that direction, education, and intervention are continuously available to keep these individuals in place and making sure that they are successful in their transition.

In 2016, the CSBG Program funding assisted with:11,105 individuals in receiving supportive services.149 seniors and 240 individuals with disabilities to maintain independent living1,199,698 million pounds of food distribution to those meeting the federal poverty guidelines4,384 rides to shelters, medical and other services183 families maintaining safe and affordable housing2,500 items of clothing given to those in needDriven by the mission of the promise to advocate for and enhance the lives of low-income and at-risk families and seniors, Project GO, Inc. has improved over 40,000 Placer and Nevada County residences through the Weatherization Assistance Program since its inception in 1978, and over 6,000 families per year through the Emergency Crisis Intervention and the Home Energy Assistance Programs.
