Form 990, Part III, Line 4D: Other Program Services Description

Other program services 4: effective environmental policy:oec helps state and local elected officials and government agencies provide effective and equitable environmental leadership. We are a member of the oregon conservation network, a coalition of 40+ environmental organizations working together for strong environmental protections other program services 5: clean and plentiful water: to protect the health of oregons waterways and keep drinking water safe, oec works to reduce polluted runoff from both urban and rural sources, including pesticides, nitrate and toxic chemicals. In fy2018-19, we managed the 2nd statewide world water day campaign engaging nearly 40 organizations across the state in asking the question what is your water why?; partnered with the affiliated tribes of northwest indians to ensure tribes are integrally involved in developing water policies and share their tribal connections and values around water resources with a broader audience; and secured commitments from key natural resource agencies and the governors office to develop a strategy to fund the states water needs. Other program services 6: multi-issue environmental protection:oec undertakes cross-cutting, overarching work to protect oregons environment, such as conducting general environmental education and outreach; bridging oregons urban-rural divide by increasing and deepening our engagement with rural interests; building partnerships with allied organizations and participating in environmental coalitions; and promoting strategies that broadly protect the environment and the health of oregonians, such as sufficient budgets for state natural resource agencies. In fy2018-19, we worked with the one oregon coalition to help the environmental community understand its connection to immigrant rights and to partner with social justice allies to successfully defend against an anti-immigrant ballot measure on the november 2019 ballot. Other program services 7: renew oregon:co-founded by oec, the renew oregon campaign is laser-focused on building a movement to win big on climate in oregon by capping and pricing carbon and advancing clean renewable energy and transportation alternatives that also create local jobs. Renew oregons educational and outreach work has resulted in endorsements from more than 70 nonprofit organizations; a support letter signed more than 195 farms and agricultural stakeholders; public support from more than 140 clergy leaders from across the state; and a support letter from more than 830 local businesses, including many in rural communities. Renew oregons base of supporters has grown to more than 35,000 on social media (cumulative total for facebook, twitter, and instagram) and an email list of 65,000.
