Form 990, Part III, Line 4D: Other Program Services Description

Other program services 4: effective environmental policyoec helps state and local elected officials and government agencies provide effective and equitable environmental leadership. We are a member of the oregon conservation network, a coalition of 40+ environmental organizations working together for strong environmental protections. Other program services 5: clean and plentiful waterto protect the health of oregon's waterways and keep drinking water safe, oec works to reduce polluted runoff from both urban and rural sources, including pesticides, nitrates and toxic chemicals. We develop and disseminate tools and information for local communities, farmers, planners, and developers to proactively tackle contaminated runoff. For example, our work with partners in the clackamas river basin, a drinking water source for 300,000 people, has decreased levels of toxic pesticides in this vital river. In early 2016, we completed an online low-impact development guide to reduce polluted stormwater runoff that harms fisheries and aquatic ecosystems in small and mid-sized cities in western oregon, and seventeen jurisdictions have already pledged to incorporate all or some of it into their future projects. Other program services 6: multi-issueoec undertakes cross-cutting, overarching work to protect oregon's environment, such as conducting general environmental education and outreach; building partnerships with allied organizations and participating in environmental coalitions; serving on advisory committees focused on broad environmental goals, such as the oregon environmental justice task force; and promoting strategies that broadly protect the environment and the health of oregonians, such as sufficient budgets for state natural resource agencies. As part of our commitment to environmental justice, we organized a three-part event series on social equity issues for our peer environmental ngos in 2015, with over 250 participants. Other program services 7: renew oregonled by oec, climate solutions, and the oregon league of conservation voters, the renew oregon campaign is laser-focused on building a movement to win big on climate in oregon by capping and pricing carbon and advancing clean renewable energy and transportation alternatives that also create local jobs. Renew oregon's education and outreach work has resulted in endorsements from over 40 non-profit organizations; a support letter signed by 57 leaders in the agricultural community; public support from 73 clergy from across the state; and a support letter from over 130 local businesses, including many in smaller rural communities. More broadly, renew oregon's base of supporters currently now includes 28,500 on social media and an email list of 53,000.

IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy2Grp/Desc0CLIMATE PROTECTIONOEC PROMOTES SOLUTIONS TO CLIMATE CHANGE, INCLUDING CLIMATE-FRIENDLY TRANSPORTATION, ENERGY EFFICIENCY, AND COMPREHENSIVE CARBON-REDUCTION POLICIES. OEC LED THE WAY FOR OREGON TO ADOPT A LOW-CARBON FUEL STANDARD AND IN 2015, SUCCESSFULLY DEFENDED IT FROM OIL INDUSTRY ATTACKS. IN EARLY 2016, OEC CO-LED THE WAY FOR OREGON TO BECOME COAL-FREE AND REPLACE THAT DIRTY POWER WITH CLEAN, RENEWABLE ENERGY VIA THE RENEW OREGON CAMPAIGN (SEE RENEW OREGON).

IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy3Grp/Desc0CLEAN AND PLENTIFUL WATERTO PROTECT THE HEALTH OF OREGON'S WATERWAYS AND KEEP DRINKING WATER SAFE, OEC WORKS TO REDUCE POLLUTED RUNOFF FROM BOTH URBAN AND RURAL SOURCES, INCLUDING PESTICIDES, NITRATES AND TOXIC CHEMICALS.
