Form 990, Part III, Line 4D: Other Program Services Description

Other program services 4: effective environmental policyoec helps state and local elected officials and government agencies provide effective and equitable environmental leadership. We are a member of the oregon conservation network, a coalition of 40+ environmental organizations working together for strong environmental protections. Other program services 5: clean and plentiful waterto protect the health of oregons waterways and keep drinking water safe, oec works to reduce polluted runoff from both urban and rural sources, including pesticides, nitrate and toxic chemicals. We develop and disseminate tools and information for local communities, farmers, planners and developers to proactively tackle contaminated runoff. In 2016, we completed a project that reduced levels of toxic pesticides in the clackamas river basin. We developed best management practices for farmers and ranchers to right-size fertilizer use. We influenced state processes, such as the integrated water resources strategy, to ensure they proactively protect our water, and we conducted a series of conversations with stakeholders in the willamette valley in order to develop informed public policy solutions. Other program services 6: multi-issueoec undertakes cross-cutting, overarching work to protect oregons environment, such as conducting general environmental education and outreach; building partnerships with allied organizations and participating in environmental coalitions; serving on advisory committees focused on broad environmental goals, such as the oregon environmental justice task force; and promoting strategies that broadly protect the environment and the health of oregonians, such as sufficient budgets for state natural resource agencies. In 2016, we hosted the state environmental leadership conference in portland for state-level environmental groups across the nation. Other program services 7: renew oregonled by oec, climate solutions, oregon league of conservation voters and oregon chapter of the sierra club, the renew oregon campaign is laser-focused on building a movement to win big on climate in oregon by capping and pricing carbon and advancing clean renewable energy and transportation alternatives that also create local jobs. Renew oregons educational and outreach work has resulted in endorsements from over 40 non-profit organizations; a support letter signed by 75 leaders in the agricultural community; public support from 78 clergy from across the state; and a support letter from over 640 local businesses, including many in rural communities. Renew oregons base of supporters has grown to 32,500 on social media and an email list of 60,000. Other program services 8: effective environmental policyoec helps state and local elected officials and government agencies provide effective and equitable environmental leadership.
