The council also engages oregonians through social media, providing opinion pieces to print media, and informing the public about environmental issues through interviews on radio and television. Other program services 5: effective environmental policythe council helps state and local elected officials and government agencies provide effective and equitable environmental leadership. We are a member of the oregon conservation network, a coalition of 40+ environmental organizations in oregon working together for strong environmental protections. Other program services 6: clean and plentiful waterto protect the health of oregons waterways and keep drinking water safe, the council works to reduce polluted runoff from both urban and rural sources, including pesticides, nitrates, and toxic chemicals. We develop and disseminate tools and information for local communities, farmers, planners and developers to proactively tackle contaminated runoff. We watchdog state agencies that are responsible for water quality and help secure funding for programs that protect water quality. We promote sustainable agricultural practices that protect water quality and human health, including programs that work directly with farmers to adopt viable protective practices that reduce pesticide and fertilizer contamination of rivers, streams and groundwater.”
