Form 990, Page 6, Part VI, Line 15A

The society uses salary surveys that are industry and non-profit specific (for example society of animal welfare administrators) as provided by the mountain states employers council. In addition, the society received input from recruiting firms and compared the executive director's salary to previous executive director's salaries.

Form 990, Page 6, Part VI, Line 15B

The society uses the same survey information as is used for determining the ceo compensation, as well as for-profit comparisons for similar positions for director of human resources and director of finance. The society has also developed a comprehensive compensation plan that helps them attract the very best staff to keep the organization operating as efficiently as possible.

Form 990, Page 6, Part VI, Line 19

Form 990, Page 2, Part III, Line 4A

Larimer humane society continues to pride itself on our commitment to accepting all animals brought to us regardless of their health or temperament. While we do our best to provide the highest quality care to animals at larimer humane society, there is no arguing that being kenneled for a large portion of the day can be hard on dogs and cats. While they are with us, there are great ways we can enhance their stay while they await their new homes. Volunteers regularly take dogs on walks or brush cats. And, our behavior and enrichment staff works with shelter and foster volunteers to assist with extra behavioral training. Giving extra one-on- one time to a pet that has not been very well socialized or one that feels great helps them overcome their fears and anxieties thereby ensuring a better chance for find a new home. In fiscal year 2014 larimer humane society: - welcomed 6,176 animals into our shelter--more than 15 animals per day--or two every hour. - reunited 82% of stray dogs and 18% of stray cats were returned to their owners. -celebrated a live release rate of 86%. -placed 2,860 kittens, cats, puppies, dogs, rabbits, gerbils, chickens, turtles and other animals into new and loving homes. - helped countless other pets find great homes through our friendships with 124 other shelters, humane societies and breed-specific rescue groups. - continued to enhance behavior modification training to include fearful dogs. - utilized dog "play groups" to provide much-needed exercise and socialization to shelter canines for better emotional and mental well-being - trained more volunteers to patiently provide socialization for cats needing extra time to adjust to the shelter environment. - provided foster care for over 524 animals.

Form 990, Page 2, Part III, Line 4B

In fiscal year 2014 larimer humane society: - responded to 17,179 calls for service from loveland, fort collins and unincorporated larimer county. - investigated 1,150 animal welfare cases. - rescued 111 rabbits from overcrowded and unclean conditions. - assisted fort collins city officials in developing guidelines and rules for urban wildlife now permitted within city limits. - created the disaster animal response team - dart - volunteer responders who are dedicated to making sure that animal's needs are met during times of crisis.

Form 990, Page 2, Part III, Line 4C

In fiscal year 2014 larimer humane society: - performed a total of 1,825 surgeries including 1,618 spay/neuter surgeries and 175 dentals. - partnered with colorado state university's veterinary teaching hospital to provide opportunities for fourth-year veterinary students to perform 182 spay/neuter surgeries on shelter animals, increasing our organizations' capacity and providing hands-on learning to students. - more lives were saved through our partnership with colorado state university's "saving animals in shelters through teaching" (sast) program, providing specialized surgeries to shelter animals.

IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy3Grp/Desc0VETERINARY SERVICES: ANIMAL SHELTERS CAN BE A STRESSFUL ENVIRONMENT FOR COMPANION ANIMALS. IT'S THE NOISE, THE NEW SMELLS AND THE "NOT KNOWING" THAT CAN LEAD TO COMPROMISED IMMUNE SYSTEMS CAUSING DISEASE. FORTUNATELY, OUR SKILLED VETERINARY STAFF WORKS DAILY TO PREVENT DISEASE AND TO KEEP PETS IN OUR CARE HEALTHY. EVERY ANIMAL RECEIVES A THOROUGH CHECK-UP AND IS VACCINATED. EVEN BETTER - NO ADOPTABLE CAT, DOG OR RABBIT WILL LEAVE OUR SHELTER WITHOUT BEING SPAYED OR NEUTERED, WHICH HELPS TO CUT DOWN PET OVERPOPULATION. CONTINUED ON SCHEDULE O IN FISCAL YEAR 2014 LARIMER HUMANE SOCIETY: - PERFORMED A TOTAL OF 1,825 SURGERIES INCLUDING 1,618 SPAY/NEUTER SURGERIES AND 175 DENTALS.
