Animal protection/control larimer county residents can count on larimer humane society's animal protection & control officers to respond to any call, 365 days a year, seven days a week, 24 hours a day. Through contractual agreements with the municipalities, our animal protection and control and licensing teams enforce state and local animal laws and ordinances and ensure that lost pets can easily find their way home through an up to date pet license. In fiscal year 2011, larimer humane society's animal protection and control officers: responded to 22,713 calls for service from fort collins, loveland and unincorporated areas of larimer county sold or renewed 53,014 pet licenses, surpassing the 50,000 mark for the first time in larimer humane society history, and generating 520,951 for the shelter secured the participation of more veterinary clinics to sell pet license, increasing the sales through veterinarians by five percent rescued animals in harm's way from two northern colorado wildfires

Activity 3

Veterinary services larimer humane society's veterinary services team is responsible for managing the health of all shelter animals, providing a full range of services including vaccinations, surgeries, and the diagnosis and treatment of injuries, genetic conditions, and ailments like upper respiratory infections. The veterinary services team applies their years of combined expertise to examine an average of 30 animals each day, all at different stages on their journey to a loving home. In addition, they perform up to 15 surgeries each day, most of which are spay and neuter procedures for dogs, cats and rabbits. In fiscal year 2011, larimer humane society: performed 2,175 spay/neuter surgeries, helping us make significant strides towards reducing pet overpopulation in our community through collaboration with colorado state university's veterinary teaching hospital, were able to provide life-saving surgery to 22 animals through the college's saving animals through surgery and teaching (sast) program which provides surgeries that otherwise may not have been possible. Continued our work to assist re-homing efforts on our mature adult dogs and cats conducting blood work and dentals on select patients
