We spent over an hour discussing our policy, its purpose and practical application. All members were polled for conflicts. We discuss potential conflicts at board meetings and a written inquiry regarding conflict of interests will be distributed for return at our next annual board meeting.”

Various touch points for fairness of compensation for each position and its duties were analyzed and reviewed and substantiated by independent sources to determine compensation fairness within similar constraints. “Sanctuary program: with the input of an art therapist and specialized restorative justice practitioners, we created this program to provide incarcerated 18-25-year-olds a creative venue and safe place in which to work through accountability and healing in relation to the cycle of harm. During this period, we continued to provide programming at the substance abuse treatment facility and state prison at corcoran. Junior mentor and restorative mentor training: our restorative mentor training program equips participants with the philosophy and skills to grow into compassionate peer mentors based on restorative perspectives, especially for the younger members of incarcerated communities. Our junior mentor program supports the younger members of our incarcerated community to develop insight and understanding into themselves as they also step into leadership of their peers. We currently run these programs collectively at six california prisons. Hoop valley we have developed an alternative to traditional classroom programming (for those who eschew that venue and are interested others) using the game of basketball as a vehicle for learning. Not only does this promote sportsmanship but more importantly it is a venue for the learning of conflict resolution skills, team building and overall leadership development. In-reach/reentry we provide support and reentry planning at valley state prison for those who are within six months of parole. We continue that care with our ride home program and reentry support, the latter two of which are available to the general california incarcerated population, particularly in los angeles and fresno counties.”
