Public Invention is a non-profit dedicated to invention in the public, for the public. Our activities will consist of a research activities to create new inventions that benefit the public, specifically the poor and distressed. We will also engage in community building activities to help recruit volunteers interested in creating new inventions and helping develop and validate the skills necessary for those individuals be successful.
Public Invention forms teams that make humanitarian invention "in the public, for the public". Everything we do is fiercely open source and shared to all humanity. We strive to create new inventions that benefit the public, specifically the poor and distressed. As a side-effect we help our volunteers develop new technical and project management skills, making them better able to gain employment or attend graduate school or college. Our inventions focus on global health and sustainability.

| For NASA, we delivered a digital control system for a revolutionary ceramic oxygen generator that has no moving parts. If deployed in rural clinics with unsteady O2 access, this technology could save hundreds of thousands of lives a year. | - | $106,290 |
| The Global Open Source Quality Assurance System's first project is Global Distributed Tracking (GDT), a fully encrypted "last mile" tracker for medical supplies that does NOT require login or authentication. “Public Invention does not pay its board members, or its President and Founder, who acts as an executive director, in any way. This year we did a major contract for NASA to develop a digital control system for a Ceramic Oxygen Generator (COG). This technology can fill spacesuits and generate an oxidizer from the Martian atmosphere but more importantly, it can revolutionize the delivery of therapeutic oxygen, which is a miracle drug for those diseases that require it, in rural low- and middle-income countries. The PolyVent Ventilator is the worlds most open source education and research ventilator. The project was winding down, but has recently been delivered to Colorado Mesa University for both research and classroom instruction in 2024. Public Invention runs a number of small projects, each aimed at academic publication, which do not require large amounts of money, and so are not listed on this form. For example, we have developed a passive ferrofluid check valve that is a true invention. Public Invention is a driving part of a coalition of nonprofits in the Global Opens Source Quality Assurance Systems (GOSQAS) alliance. We are innovating the last-mile tracking of medical goods outside of normal inventory control systems with a camera based system that requires no authentication and no login at all. We hope this will lead to a revolution in the quality of medical supplies globally, an increase in medical philanthropy, and will fight counterfeiting. The expenditures listed on this form fell into no other categories and total $35,287”
