Our mission is to share tools to support everyone's capacity for wellbeing by offering trauma-informed and resiliency-focused programs. | IRS990/Desc | 0 | Resiliency Toolkits - In FY 2021-2022, the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NC DHHS), in partnership with Eastpointe, awarded us $992,568.00 to deliver four 60- minute presentations, teach four 14-hour Reconnect for Resilience (Reconnect) trainings, and develop and distribute 60,000 resiliency toolkits for North Carolina (NC) residents. Our team worked to deliver the training components of this project throughout the second half of 2021, reaching more than 50 participants with our full Reconnect curriculum during that time. We also began planning and designing materials to be incorporated into the resiliency toolkits. These included resiliency tools videos, wall calendars, perpetual wellness calendars, resiliency tools magnets, and resiliency journals. The development, creation, and printing of these items was then completed in 2022 and 60,000 resiliency toolkits were distributed to NC residents in April and May. This included 20,000 kits for adults, 20,000 kits for teens, and 20,000 kits for children and families. These toolkits were well-received and many statewide partners continue to request toolkits for their staff and the residents they serve. |

| IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy2Grp/Desc | 0 | Listening Circles for SPARC Foundation - We partnered in 2022 with the SPARC Foundation (SPARC) to support their Stop of the Violence initiative in Asheville, NC. In this project, which ran originally from March 2022 through February 2023, we offered Listening Circles and outreach to residents affected by gun violence. Listening Circles can be a powerful tool during times of individual or community stress; they are a chance for community members to express what is hardest and be guided in the use of tools designed to bring the nervous system back into balance. Between March and December 2022, we delivered 26 Listening Circles, reaching an average of six residents per event, and provided 29 hours of outreach for a total of $10,285.00. In response to the positive feedback we received, SPARC then extended the project for a second year. They highlighted the importance of Listening Circles for those they serve, as well as the self-care and resilience of their staff. One team member shared, "These circles have made a huge impact on my personal life. I participate in the circles, and it has shown me that we all have trauma even if we don't know it. These circles are very important and really needed in these communities." |
| IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy3Grp/Desc | 0 | Reconnect for Resilience for First Responders and Healthcare Workers - In FY 2021-2022, NC DHHS, in partnership with Eastpointe and Edgecombe Community College, awarded us $44,625.00 to pilot a new iteration of our Reconnect curriculum for NC first responders. After working in 2021 to contextualize our existing content for this audience, we offered five trainings and reached 68 firefighters and paramedics between January and June 2022. Our preliminary evaluation reflected its positive impact on both knowledge and skills gained and revealed that approximately 84% of respondents described the program as outstanding with an additional 16% describing it as very good. We also found that 100% of respondents felt that their helping skills improved, 100% of respondents felt it was either very likely or likely to help them in the work that they, and 100% reported being very likely or likely to use the tools in their work, community, and/or families. The program was extended into FY 2022-2023 when we were awarded $413,367.00 to continue training first responders and to expand our reach to healthcare workers. From July through December 2022, we completed an additional Reconnect training and initiated an Implementation Coaching series for seven first responders seeking to deepen their knowledge and build their confidence using and sharing our resiliency tools. Our team also developed and launched a statewide social media toolkit in observance of Suicide Prevention Awareness Month to promote resilience among first responders and alleviate the shame and stigma that many of them feel when they become overwhelmed by the stressors faced in the line of duty. Finally, we began preparations in the last quarter of 2022 for the 2023 launch of our Reconnect in Healthcare offerings. This included the contextualization of our training and coaching content for a new target audience and necessitated the development of a modularized version of the curriculum to meet the scheduling needs of both English-speaking and Spanish-speaking healthcare workers. In addition, our team conceptualized a second social medial toolkit for healthcare workers for release in 2023 and began designing a leadership workshop to teach strategies to help staff avoid burnout, strengthen their personal and professional relationships, and promote a culture of resilience within healthcare organizations. |
