| Food Sovereignty, [in collaboration with Asociacin Chajulense de Mujeres]Highlights:--Weekly meetings between Advisor and coordinators of the program helped a lot with the follow up of the program--We found out that the way women work best is in activities according to their interests and abilities--Samples in Rocket stoves, mud stoves, pine water filters where made.--390 new chicken were brought to Chel and Sotzil --Beneficiaries restarted family gardens, 20 in Sotzil and 15 in Chel. The idea was to keep doing terraces so that they will get use to plant them during all the year.--Smoke monitoring experimentation with white cloth to make awareness about the damage that creates the smoke was done throughout the year--More beneficiaries in average, attended the trainings since the groups were unified into two and also food was prepared by the attendees and promoters and distributed among them. The ingredients include products from the gardens.Year numbers:Advanced Beneficiaries: These are the women who always implement the four components, taking into account the most important aspects of each for a better way of working according to their learning. Following is a table that contains the 30 best women in Sotzil and Chel that implements the 4 components having excellency in some of them. Note that all are good for Worm compost.Sotzil: Family Gardens - 20 Women Wormcompost - 30 Women EMs - 17 Women Chickens - 9 WomenChel:Family Gardens - 10 Women Wormcompost - 30 Women EMs - 15 Women Chickens - 6 WomenFrom 218 women 60 are advanced beneficiaries of which 100% are better to worm compost, 50% to family gardens, 53% reproducing and consuming Ems and 25% are good at chicken.Intermediate Beneficiaries. Are the ones who work only one component. They work it well, get good results and maintain it during the year. Within this group there are some women that have two or three activities but each is a little sloppy. Sotzil - 30 Chel - 23From this numbers we can infer that 52% of the total of women participants remain with a practice that gives access to food or/and nutrition in a sustainable way.Roya Recovery [in collaboration with Association Chajulense]Highlights:--Team organized with two technicians, 8 promoters and thee Coordinator of the Technical Assistance Unit to give service to 400 beneficiaries, training and follow up--Coordination meetings every Monday at 7:00 am helped a lot for a proper follow up--Obat and Marsellesas coffee seeds were given to all farmers, both resistant to rust--Coffee Seed Nurseries among all the farmers, were implemented. --Broca traps installed specially in the most vulnerable areas--Canavalia was introduced as an efficient way to incorporate nitrogen into the plots--Ems were applied from 3 to 5 times during the year among all beneficiaries. This was the technique that was implemented by the majority of farmers--23 containers exported to USA and Europe. There were 27 containers available but not enough market so Chajulense stopped buying the coffee from farmers--Though the relationship with Chajulense was smoothly the program ended at the end of December since Chajulense felt they want to continue with the old system they use to, with 7 promoters, 1 in each area and 1 technician that is good for the inspections but limited for the technical assistance to producers. The Coffee Trust decided to finish the program and thanked the board for all the work supported.Microcredit and Textiles, [Chajulense de Mujeres]Highlights:--The funds donated by the Sweden Embassy in the community banks for the period of 4 years were used as a small amount as capital in credit and in improving the administration procedures, buying a new land for a bigger office and subsiding salaries of the team.--The Sweden Embassy is inviting Chajulense de Mujeres to participate in the Second Stage of the project for another 4 years--The process of becoming a Cooperative is continuing. The COOP will be approved in 2019.--Textiles is going too slow.Honey Program, [Copichajulense]Highlights--70% of hives were changed to Langstrome though not keeping the exact measures and other details.--50 Hives were given with the exact measures of the Langstrom model as part of the strategy to transform slowly all their hives.--3 containers of honey were exported to Germany.--Conditions to apply for organic certificate in 2019, were started. --2019 TCT will be focusing its resources and energies in this program as an alternative for coffee producers, considering the low coffee prices. | $187,128 | $69,221 |
