The conservancy's mission is the protection of natural resources that form the carmel river watershed including threatened species of steelhead and california red-legged frogs. The conservancy balances environmental protection and the diverse needs of the community. This is accomplished by exemplifying integrity, inclusiveness, education, and mutual respect.

Form 990, Part VI, Line 15A: Compensation Review & Approval Process - CEO, Top Management

The president/board chair and the executive director are both compensated; the board reviews their performance annually and when the next year's budget is approved, reviews the compensation and achievements of each and votes to approve the next year's compensation. The conservancy subscribes to non-profit compensation reports and uses them to set the executive director's compensation.
