Activity 2

Outpatient medicare care - aids arms provides comprehensive hiv outpatient medical care at peabody health center (phc) located in south dallas. The phc opened in 2001 with fewer than 200 patients. In 2010, it served 1,035 patients with 7,932 units. The phc employs three full time physicians, three nurse practitioners, three registered nurses, and nine support staff.

Activity 3

The prevention services at aids arms are fully integrated in the agency's comprehensive continuum of care and focuses on risk reduction efforts with both hiv+ and individuals at risk for hiv. The agency provides the following prevention programming; 1) comprehensive risk counseling services (crcs) focus on individuals with multiple risk behaviors; 2) protocol-based counseling and testing (pbc) is an outreach activity that offers testing and counseling opportunities to individuals at risk of contracting hiv; 3) women involved in life learning from other women (willow) is multi-curriculum based group sessions designed to help hiv+ women cope with the challenge of living with hiv/aids. In 2010, the agency achieved the following programmatic results; overall, 28,638 high risk individuals were reached through outreach activites; 72 individuals received crcs activities with 252 sessions; 2,402 individuals were tested for hiv; 60 participated in willow and completed seven sessions.
