“ChildCareGroup is led by an independent and diverse Board of Trustees consisting of 28 community and business leaders. Trustees meet at least six times per year and actively support CCG with strategic planning, fundraising, and program planning and implementation. More than 150 volunteers assist with the planning and execution of our annual fundraiser, The Great Adventure Hunt. More than 1,200 community volunteers annually support ChildCareGroup's various initiatives and activities in our programs, and 100% of the parents of children in our Early Care and Education Centers participate as CCG volunteers. ChildCareGroup operates an Adopt-A-Center program for our Early Care and Education Centers, in which Dallas corporate employees and community groups sponsor our centers with funding and volunteer support. Volunteers read with our children, perform essential repairs and building projects, and provide stimulating field trips our students would otherwise never experience.”

“Child care assistance (cca) - childcaregroup manages the three cca programs in dallas county, southeast texas (jefferson, hardin, and orange counties) and the heart of texas (freestone, limestone, falls, bosque, hill and mclennan counties). These programs subsidize the cost of care for aproximatley 24,000 children from low-income families each year, 22,000 of which are in dallas county alone. Childcaregroup provides this essential financial assistance to families through contracts with workforce solutions of greater dallas, workforce solutions southeast texas, and workforce solutions heart of texas. To be eligible for this program, parents must work, attend school, or participate in a job training program. Nearly 1,100 early learning providers in these three service delivery areas have agreements to serve children enrolled in the program. Child care is a workforce issue, and low-income working parents need access to affordable, quality care for their children in order to go to work or school.”

“In dallas county, 30.6% of children live in poverty, which negatively impacts their development and growth. Providing holistic support for parents and children helps secure the investment in a child and support the current workforce, making our community stronger. Learning starts at birth; therefore, early intervention is key to setting children in our community on a path to success. For over a century, childcaregroup has implemented an effective early intervention two-generation approach that addresses the needs of children and families living in poverty. We lead the early childhood field by providing comprehensive, high quality care and education programs that promote healthy early chilhood development and kindergarten readiness and that provide practical, holistic services and referrals for the whole family to help support parents striving for self-sufficiency. In 2021, our children returned to the classroom and enrollment is expected to return to normal in the fall. In 2019, childcaregroup was awarded a significant new head start contract and increased its center-based program operation to eight early childhood education centers accredited by the national association for the education of young children (naeyc), located in east dallas, garland, west dallas, south dallas, and corisicana. In addition to its long partnership with dallas isd, childcaregroup also now partners with six additional isd's to provide blended head start/public prek programming in corsicana, richardson, mesquite, garland, desoto and duncanville, serving children ages 0-5 and their parents with holistic services every day. Classroom activities include evidence-based curriculum and best practices, including an individualized education plan (iep) for each child, health and wellness screenings, referrals for special needs, emphasis on social-emotional development as a foundation to learning, and kindergarten transitioning. Families receive in-depth assessment, support and referrals for needs. Parents work closely with family advocates to help them set goals, create action plans and reach their goals in order to model success for their children and set the family on a pathway out of poverty. Parents have many opportunities to practice engaging in their child's education in preparation for elementary school and beyond. Volunteers provide thousands of hours of support and valuable in-kind match funding for our programs each year."foster grandparents" from the senior source volunteer their time in our center program classrooms. Funding for our early childhood programs is provided by early head start, head start, and generous private donors, including the united way of metropolitan dallas, community groups, foundations, corporations, and individual donors. For every one dollar we raise privately, childcaregroup can receive four federal matching dollars - a tremendous return on the community's investment. Additionally, to help increase the level of quality care across the community, childcaregroup operates the early head start-child care (ehs-cc) partnership with a grant from the u.s. Department of health and human services. Through this partnership we serve 84 infants, toddlers and families through partnerships with local center-based and family child care providers. We help centers improve teacher-child ratios, enhance their health and family support services, and we provide technical assistance to help those facilities meet early head start standards.”

“Texas rising star quality initiatives & parent outreach - texas uses a quality rating system called texas rising star (trs). Childcaregroup provides comprehensive programs to help child care programs across our service delivery areas increase their quality rating. Each year we conduct outreach activities to help educate parents - the child care consumer - understand the importance of selecting a quality child care provider and how to select the right program. To address the demand for quality programming, child care providers must respond by increasing the quality of their programs and teaching staff. Childcaregroup provides researched-based, professional development from state and national trainers as well as classroom and playground materials and equipment. Our partnerships with dallas county community college district and lamar institute for technology help participants advance their careers by earning their child development associate certification (cda) or enrolling in associate level college coursework. Child care professional mentoring - childcaregroup provides intensive mentoring to child care providers to help them achieve or improve their texas rising star (trs) rating. Our mentoring activities have been very effective in helping increase the number of trs rated early childhood programs in all our programs. Child care professional training - childcaregroup provides professional development in business skills, leadership, cpr, transportation safety, managing staff performance and preventing child abuse and neglect.”

“Other program services - food and nutrition program: each year we serve 625,000+ healthy meals and snacks to children throughout dallas county, providing at least two-thirds of their daily nutritional requirements through the usda food & nutrition program. In 2020, the covid-19 pandemic forced the closure of our center-based early learning prorgams and our food and nutrition program was limited to drive-by pick up. By fall 2020, our children had returned to the classroom and the food and nutrition program was reinstated but with reduced capacity. In 2021 our enrollment capacity will return to normal and the food and nutrition will be back to normal as well.”

“Other program services - texas home visiting program (parent education): born learning parent engagement program is a comprehensive, evidence-based home visiting program for low-income families in vulnerable neighborhoods located in pleasant grove/dixon circle, bachman lake, west dallas, mesquite, balch springs and plano. Utilizing the rigorous, evidence based parents as teachers (pat) curriculum model, born learning teaches parents how to be their child's first teacher and helps them identify and address the individual developmental needs of their children through one-on-one education sessions between a parent educator, parents and children. Group connections provide an opportunity for group learning and socialization between families on topics relevant to low-income families, strengthening the social capital of low-income families in our community. Born learning parent educators assess family needs, teach parents to set goals, create action plans and reach their goals to model success for their children and help the family achieve self-sufficiency. Parents learn to engage early in a child's education and development, setting a healthy foundation for the child later in school and in life. The covid-19 pandemic forced our born leaning program to pivot to a virtual format for all of 2020 and will remain so through 2021 but this program has actually thrived during covid as many of the barriers to program delivery were removed by virtual visits through zoom and facebook. Ccg operated the hhsc contract that helps support northtexasfamilies.org, a free comprehensive website linking parents to child care and other community resources.”

“Other program services - resource and referral program: childcaregroup provides extensive referrals for child care and resources in dallas county and 42 surrounding counties to help families achieve self-sufficiency and receive quality early childhood care and education for their children. Healthy outcomes through prevention and early support (h.o.p.e.s.) program - in dallas, the h.o.p.e.s. Program provides 2,400 vulnerable families with resources and access to a collaborative and innovative family support network to improve child well-being in our community. Childcaregroup's parent navigators help prenatal and new mothers navigate their maternal and pediatric care by connecting them to resources, education and referrals. H.o.p.e.s. Aims to prevent abuse and neglect and encourage meaningful parent engagement.”
