Mission
Connecting you to the joy of reading and to information for lifelong learning. All activities within the 11 libraries of the pioneer library system (pls) are designed and delivered with a commitment to quality library service for every customer, regardless of age, circumstance or location.
Major Activities
- Activity 2
- Early literacy and reading readiness the annual pls summer reading program reaches readers of all ages across the three-county library system. More than 33,000 children, teens, adults and families participated in approximately 950 total programs. We offered hundreds of children's story times and touring programs by professional artists, musicians and storytellers, activities for teens and circulated more than 800,000 books and materials for young children, teens and families. We designed programs this year for working families to participate in summer reading activities after work hours.

- Reading of literature we held our seventh annual the big read program featuring old school in partnership with the national endowment for the arts in conjunction with arts midwest, oklahoma humanities council, the university of oklahoma, the norman arts council, the anne & henry zarrow foundation and other local community partners. Approximately 800 books were distributed to constituents to participate in this system-wide celebration of the reading literature, as well as movie/book/discussion kits and concluded with public presentations by author tobias wolff who wrote to the nea on our behalf after his positive experience.
