Mission
Connecting you to the joy of reading and to information for lifelong learning. All activities within the 11 libraries of the pioneer library system (pls) are designed and delivered with a commitment to quality library service for every customer, regardless of age, circumstance or location.

- Early literacy and reading readiness The annual PLS Summer Reading Program reaches readers of all ages across the system. More than 30,000 children and teens participated in approximately 360 programs. We offered hundreds of children's story times and programs, activities for teens and circulated more than 800,000 books and materials for young children, teens and families. Continuation of Growing Like a Read program from the INASMUCH Foundation for more than 1,400 preschool children, their parents and caregivers.

- Reading of literature We held our annual The Big Read program with The Things They Carried in partnership with the Oklahoma Humanities Council and other local community partners. Approximately 700 books were distributed to constituents to participate in this system-wide celebration of the reading literature, as well as a dozen movie/book/discussion kits and a visit by author Tim O'Brien.
