Training and growth opportunities for people with disabilities or other barriers to employment. Goodwill - suncoast also promotes a greener community by repurposing items.

We achieve the mission through job training, employment, and personal growth opportunities for people with disabilities and other barriers to employment. Goodwill also promotes a greener community by repurposing items that may otherwise be relegated to landfills.

The ceo is a voting member of the board of directors, and serves ex-officio on all board committees. However, the ceo is an ex-officio, non-voting member of the audit committee; additionally the ceo does not vote on matters involving executive compensation or the ceo performance evaluation, pursuant to the boards policy on conflict of interest. The chair of the board is a voting member of the board of directors, and serves ex-officio on all board committees. However, the chair is an ex- officio, non-voting member of the audit committee.

The audit committee reviews the form 990 and reports its comments to the board either at a meeting or via email. Each board member receives a copy of the 990 and approves before filing.

The board reviews the comparability data and the total compensation, with the recommendations from the executive committee annually together with the ceos performance. The full board approves all compensation changes. The study is completed at least every three years.

Volunteers provide multiple services to goodwill-suncoast, including mentoring clients in our programs for people with developmental disabilities, assisting with fundraising events or visiting with the elderly. Many volunteers are readers for goodwills bookworks program where they read to at-risk children or sort and prepare books for distribution. After volunteers read to a group of at-risk youth, they give each child their own, personalized book to take home.
