Financial Statement Notes

Part X, Line 2:

MHI is exempt from federal and state income taxes on income related to its tax-exempt purpose under Section 501(c)(6) of the Internal Revenue Code (the "Code") and applicable state statutes. MHI is liable for federal and state taxes on any unrelated business income, as defined in the Code. MHI follows Financial Accounting Standards Board ("FASB") guidance on accounting for uncertainty in income taxes. MHI's policy is to record a liability for any tax position taken that is beneficial to MHI, including any related interest and penalties, when it is more likely than not the position taken by management with respect to a transaction or class of transactions will be overturned by a taxing authority upon examination. Management believes there are no such positions as of December 31, 2016 and 2015, and accordingly, no liability has been accrued.

IRS990ScheduleD/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt0MHI is exempt from federal and state income taxes on income related to its tax-exempt purpose under Section 501(c)(6) of the Internal Revenue Code (the "Code") and applicable state statutes.
