Each member of the governing body and each member of the executive team completes an annual conflict of interest statement. Should a potential conflict exist with an entity with which the organization is not currently doing business, the person with the conflict would be expected to disclose it prior to any proposed transactions, and to absent him/herself from discussion and from voting on such proposed transaction.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 15

The officers and key employees of the organization are paid by goodwin house incorporated, a related organization. Goodwin house incorporated uses an independent compensation consultant, comparative compensation studies, and the form 990 of other organizations to establish compensation for officers and key employees. The executive committee of the board of trustees conducts an annual review of the performance and compensation of the president and ceo; results of the performance review and wage analysis are shared with the full board, and the board of trustees establishes the compensation of the president and ceo based on the data presented. Annually, the ceo engages an outside consultant to evaluate the wages of the cfo, executive directors, corporate director of human resources and vp of marketing and mission expansion. The executive committee approves significant changes in executive compensation. Compensation for the 2019 calendar year was reviewed in 2019.

IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy3Grp/Desc0GOODWIN HOUSE CLINICAL PASTORAL EDUCATION (CPE) PROGRAM (SEE SCHEDULE O.) GOODWIN HOUSE FOUNDATION FINANCIALLY SUPPORTED THE GOODWIN HOUSE CPE PROGRAM THROUGH ITS 21ST YEAR. GOODWIN HOUSE INCORPORATED TOOK ON THOSE EXPENSES AS OF FISCAL YEAR 2020. GOODWIN HOUSE INCORPORATED IS ONE OF ONLY A SMALL NUMBER OF CONTINUING CARE RETIREMENT COMMUNITIES TO HAVE A NATIONALLY ACCREDITED CPE PROGRAM. THE GOODWIN HOUSE CPE PROGRAM BENEFITS STUDENTS EXPECTING TO WORK IN PARISH MINISTRY OR IN SPECIALIZED MINISTRY SETTINGS AND PROVIDES THEM WITH OPPORTUNITIES TO WORK WITH AND LEARN FROM OLDER ADULTS THROUGH THEIR INTERNSHIP AT GOODWIN HOUSE COMMUNITIES. DURING A CPE TERM AT GOODWIN HOUSE, STUDENTS HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO DEVELOP PASTORAL SKILLS AND DEVELOP LONG-TERM RELATIONSHIPS AS ONE WOULD IN A MINISTRY SETTING. THE STUDENTS FOCUS ON PASTORAL CARE AS WELL AS PERSONAL AND SPIRITUAL DEVELOPMENT. A UNIQUE FEATURE OF THE GOODWIN HOUSE CPE PROGRAM IS THAT IT GIVES STUDENTS AN OPPORTUNITY TO SERVE RESIDENTS WHO ARE RECEIVING CARE FROM GOODWIN HOUSE PALLIATIVE CARE AND HOSPICE. TO DATE, 307 STUDENTS FROM ACROSS THE UNITED STATES AND FROM OVERSEAS HAVE COMMENCED FROM THIS PROGRAM. IN FISCAL YEAR 2019, THE GOODWIN HOUSE FOUNDATION PROVIDED $154,036 TO UNDERWRITE THE GOODWIN HOUSE CPE PROGRAM.
