Since many of these modalities are ancient and already in the public domain, public funding of such research is critical due to the lack of financial incentives that typically drive scientific endeavors. To that end, the organization supports the work of the national institutes of health center for complementary and integrative health and promotes awareness of its efforts to conduct sound research to determine which of these unconventional modalities have merit.
