To preserve and foster the spirit and fellowship among former, present, and future members of the military,industry, and federal and civil governments. To present conferences offering problem--solving and networking opportunities through exhibits, technically and featured speakers, as well as, offer annual scholarships for students in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).

FORM 990 - ORGANIZATION'S MISSION

To preserve and foster the spirit and fellowship among former, present, and future members of the military, industry, and federal and civil governments. To present conferences offering problem-solving and networking opportunities through exhibits, technically and featured speakers, as well as, offer annual scholarships for students in science, technology, engineering and math (stem).

Form 990, Page 2, Part III, Line 4A

Accomplishments: in 2022 the rocky mountain chapter continued to make an enormous impact in the local community by donating 457k for stem scholarships, teacher grants and other stem-related community activities. The chapter provided 50k in stem scholarships to both pikes peak state college and the university of colorado-colorado springs (uccs) and increased donations for stem teacher grants to 130k, providing even more support to elementary, middle and high school teachers, with additional emphasis again this year on title 1 schools. The partnership with goodwill of colorado continued, with 50k going to support their lift program that trains adults in cybersecurity certifications. Rmc afcea became the largest supporter across the country of the scripps howard "if you give a child a book" program, providing over 45k to put books in the hands of title i elementary school students. New in 2022, the chapter sponsored the pikes peak robotics program, providing robotics cabinets to participating schools and judges for local competitions. The rocky mountain cyberspace symposium was another smashing success with over 2,500 attendees, 141 exhibitors, and 30 sponsors, and raised over 400k for stem education programs. The chapter held a member's night at the colorado springs switchbacks soccer game for the second year in a row. Rmc afcea continued its efforts to partner with other local organizations through joint activities with ndia, aiaa, issa, afa, and the colorado springs chamber and edc, and the national cybersecurity center, and once again cohosted the image golf tournament with ndia and afa, another huge fundraising success. The chapter hosted several small business events throughout the year, to include a cohosted event with the newport news chapter, as well as three coffee in the cloud events. In an effort to ensure the brand is recognized in the community, the chapter is now the proud sponsor of the rocky mountain afcea cyber range at uccs. Finally, in conjunction with deloitte and uccs, the third annual mountain west cyber challenge was held; a capture the flag event open to colleges and universities in the rocky mountain region. This year had 130 participants, an increase of 58 participants over last year the rocky mountain chapter is proud of the accomplishments over the past year and are poised to achieve even more in 2023. Goals: individual membership - increase individual membership by at least one person corporate membership - increase corporate membership by 1 new member website - establish an afcea headquarters hosted website or maintain an existing one finances - increase our afcea rmc brand by investing funds in branding efforts small business - hold a quarterly informational webinar and/or collaborative with other afcea chapters - hold a quarterly small business networking event in collaboration with other local organizations education/scholarships - donate 300k to the local community for stem-related education activities events - successfully execute rmcs23 emerging leaders - hold at least two social events during the calendar year awards - submit at least 2 international awards during the calendar year

THE CHAPTER PROVIDED 50K IN STEM SCHOLARSHIPS TO BOTH PIKES PEAK STATE COLLEGE AND THE UNIVERSITY OF COLORADO-COLORADO SPRINGS (UCCS) AND INCREASED DONATIONS FOR STEM TEACHER GRANTS TO 130K, PROVIDING EVEN MORE SUPPORT TO ELEMENTARY, MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL TEACHERS, WITH ADDITIONAL EMPHASIS AGAIN THIS YEAR ON TITLE 1 SCHOOLS. THE PARTNERSHIP WITH GOODWILL OF COLORADO CONTINUED, WITH 50K GOING TO SUPPORT THEIR LIFT PROGRAM THAT TRAINS ADULTS IN CYBERSECURITY CERTIFICATIONS. RMC AFCEA BECAME THE LARGEST SUPPORTER ACROSS THE COUNTRY OF THE SCRIPPS HOWARD "IF YOU GIVE A CHILD A BOOK" PROGRAM, PROVIDING OVER 45K TO PUT BOOKS IN THE HANDS OF TITLE I ELEMENTARY SCHOOL STUDENTS. NEW IN 2022, THE CHAPTER SPONSORED THE PIKES PEAK ROBOTICS PROGRAM, PROVIDING ROBOTICS CABINETS TO PARTICIPATING SCHOOLS AND JUDGES FOR LOCAL COMPETITIONS. THE ROCKY MOUNTAIN CYBERSPACE SYMPOSIUM WAS ANOTHER SMASHING SUCCESS WITH OVER 2,500 ATTENDEES, 141 EXHIBITORS, AND 30 SPONSORS, AND RAISED OVER 400K FOR STEM EDUCATION PROGRAMS. THE CHAPTER HELD A MEMBER'S NIGHT AT THE COLORADO SPRINGS SWITCHBACKS SOCCER GAME FOR THE SECOND YEAR IN A ROW. RMC AFCEA CONTINUED ITS EFFORTS TO PARTNER WITH OTHER LOCAL ORGANIZATIONS THROUGH JOINT ACTIVITIES WITH NDIA, AIAA, ISSA, AFA, AND THE COLORADO SPRINGS CHAMBER AND EDC, AND THE NATIONAL CYBERSECURITY CENTER, AND ONCE AGAIN COHOSTED THE IMAGE GOLF TOURNAMENT WITH NDIA AND AFA, ANOTHER HUGE FUNDRAISING SUCCESS. THE CHAPTER HOSTED SEVERAL SMALL BUSINESS EVENTS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR, TO INCLUDE A COHOSTED EVENT WITH THE NEWPORT NEWS CHAPTER, AS WELL AS THREE COFFEE IN THE CLOUD EVENTS. IN AN EFFORT TO ENSURE THE BRAND IS RECOGNIZED IN THE COMMUNITY, THE CHAPTER IS NOW THE PROUD SPONSOR OF THE ROCKY MOUNTAIN AFCEA CYBER RANGE AT UCCS. FINALLY, IN CONJUNCTION WITH DELOITTE AND UCCS, THE THIRD ANNUAL MOUNTAIN WEST CYBER CHALLENGE WAS HELD; A CAPTURE THE FLAG EVENT OPEN TO COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES IN THE ROCKY MOUNTAIN REGION. THIS YEAR HAD 130 PARTICIPANTS, AN INCREASE OF 58 PARTICIPANTS OVER LAST YEAR THE ROCKY MOUNTAIN CHAPTER IS PROUD OF THE ACCOMPLISHMENTS OVER THE PAST YEAR AND ARE POISED TO ACHIEVE EVEN MORE IN 2023.
