FIVE DOWNSTAIRS CLASSROOMS SUPPORT SOFT SKILLS TRAINING, COMPUTER CLASSES, AND INDIVIDUAL DISCUSSIONS WITH MENTORS. UPSTAIRS, A 4,000 SQUARE FOOT GREAT HALL COMPLETE WITH COUCHES, GAMES, AND TABLES FOR DINING PROVIDES LIVING ROOM SPACE. A WELL-EQUIPPED KITCHEN ADJACDENT TO THE GREAT HALL IS WHERE VOLUNTEERS PREP MONTHLY ALMS DINNERS. OVERSEEING THE GREAT HALL IS AN UPPER LOFT, THE PERFECT SPOT FOR MOVIE NIGHT TO FOLLOW A HEARTY HOME-COOKED MEAL. ALMS HELD IT'S ANNUAL DINNER AT THIS NEW FACILITY IN 2019.ALSO IN 2019 ALMS ACQUIRED A SEVEN-PASSENGER VAN, COURTESY OF THE WOODLAND KIWANIS CLUB. AS A RESULT, ALMS IS READY TO PROVIDE ROUND-TRIP SERVICE FOR ANY YOUTH NEEDING A RIDE TO ATTEND CLUBHOUSE TRAINING AND EVENTS.ALMS SERVED A TOTAL OF 53 YOUNG ADULTS WITH THE FOLLOWING RESULTS: - STAYED IN SCHOOL = 12 (REMAINING IN CACHE CREEK HIGH SCHOOL) - GRADUATED = 16 (PRIMARILY FROM CACHE CREEK HIGH SCHOOL) - EMPLOYED = 31 (ALL ARE STILL EMPLOYED AFTER 6 MONTHS) ALMS WAS ABLE TO ADDRESS THE "DIRECT TO CLIENT" NEEDS SUCH AS BARRIERS THAT HINDER YOUNG ADULTS FROM ENTERING THE WORKFORCE SUCCESSFULLY. SOME OF THE ASSISTANCE WENT TO PROVIDE TRANSPORTATION, CHILD CARE, HOUSING, FOOD, SUPPLIES AND COUNSELING AND FEES TO RELEASE TRANSCRIPTS.ALMS SERVES YOUNG ADULTS WHO WERE SINGLE MOMS, HOMELESS, UNEMPLOYED OUT OF SCHOOL, DISABLED AND THOSE WITH TRAUMA SYMPTOMS AND RECEIVING THERAPY SERVICES FOR ANXIETY AND DEPRESSION.THE 2019 ANNUAL DINNER WITH THE STARS EDUCATED APPROXIMATELY 140 BUSNESS EXECUTIVES AND EDUCATORS, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS, DIGNITY HEALTH, YOLO HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES, RISE, UNITED WAY, YOLO COUNTY OFFICE OF EDUCATION, AND MANY MORE, AS THEY LISTENED TO THE TESTIMONY OF A SINGLE MOM SHARE HER STORY OF EARLY GRADUATION WITH A CHILD, BUT NOW WORKING. THE DINNER IS PUT ON BY THE PARTICIPANTS OF ALMS WITH YOUTH GREETING, SEATING, SERVING, AND ALSO AS THE EMCEE AND SPEAKERS OF THE EVENING.
