| ALL LEADERS MUST SERVE (ALMS) TRAINS AND WORKS WITH BOTH RETIRED AND PROFESSIONAL VOLUNTEERS. SINCE COVID-19 ALMS HAS CONTINUED TO BUILD THE NUMBER OF STUDENTS WE SERVE EACH YEAR. ALMS HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO TRAIN AND WORK WITH 7 ACTIVE MENTORS.THE ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF ALMS FROM JANUARY 2024 TO DECEMBER 2024 INCLUDE YOUNG ADULT REFERRALS FROM THE DISTRICT ATTORNEYS OFFICE AND THE RESTORATIVE JUSTICE PROGRAM. HOWEVER, ALMS TRAINED OVER 50 YOUNG ADULTS WITH A SIGNIFICANT FOCUS ON THE ALMS TRUST SERIES WORKSHOPS, ACROSS THE THREE PUBLIC SCHOOLS IN WOODLAND. THE TRUST SERIES, ADAPTED FROM THE BEST-SELLING BOOK BY STEPHEN M.R. COVEY, THE SPEED OF TRUST, WAS PROVIDED TO WOODLAND HIGH SCHOOL, PIONEER HIGH SCHOOL AND CACHE CREEK HIGH SCHOOL IN YOLO. THIS INITIATIVE WAS CRUCIAL IN ADDRESSING THE PRESSING NEED THAT EMERGED DURING AND AFTER THE PANDEMIC, IN WHICH YOUTH ARE STRUGGLING TO UNDERSTAND WHOM TO TURST AND HOW TO BE A TRUSTWORTHY PERSON.ALL PROGRAM PARTICIPANTS WERE BETWEEN THE AGES OF 15 AND 25, SUFFERING FROM THE EFFECTS OF COVID-19 AND THE DANGEROUS AND DAMAGING TREND OF SOCIAL MEDIA. YOUTH SHARED THAT INFORMATION FROM SOCIAL MEDIA CREATES A FEAR OF FAILURE, A DISCONNECT BETWEEN WHAT IS REAL AND WHAT IS NOT, AND DOES NOT ENCOURAGE REAL-TIME SOCIAL INTERACTION WITH REAL PEOPLE. THE FEAR OF FAILURE OFTEN PREVENTS YOUTH FROM VENTURING OUT TO SEEK JOBS, AND SOCIAL MEDIA HAS CREATED THE IMPRESSION THAT EMPLOYERS DO NOT LIKE THEM BECAUSE THE ONLY EMPLOYMENT NEWS ON THE PLATFORM IS BAD.IN RESPONSE TO MOST OF THE STUDENTS ALMS ENCOUNTERED, WE SET OUT TO TRAIN AND EMPOWER YOUTH TO UNDERSTAND TRUST. THE SUCCESS STORIES OF THESE STUDENTS, WHO MANAGED THEIR FEARS OF THE WORKFORCE WITH THE INFORMATION FROM THE ALMS JOB READINESS CURRICULUM AND THE TRUST SERIES, ARE A TESTAMENT TO THE EFFECTIVENESS OF OUR APPROACH. WE TRAINED THE YOUTH SO THAT THEY CAN SUCCEED AFTER GETTING A JOB AND EXCEL AS TRUSTWORTHY EMPLOYEES.ALMS ALSO INCLUDED A $200 STIPEND FOR EACH STUDENT WHO MAINTAINED PERFECT ATTENDANCE DURING THE TRAINING AS AN INCENTIVE FOR BEING RELIABLE, PARTICIPATING, AND BECOMING A TEAM. THE STUDENTS ALSO LEARN TO BECOME GOAL-ORIENTED, BUILD ON THEIR KNOWLEDGE, AND FIND RELATIONSHIPS WITH THE MENTORS AND PEERS. ALMS'S SUPPORT EXTENDED BEYOND TRAINING AND WORKSHOPS. WE ALSO PROVIDED MENTORS TO ASSIST STUDENTS IN OBTAINING THEIR CA ID'S AND SOCIAL SECURITY CARDS, CRUCIAL DOCUMENTS FOR EMPLOYMENT. MANY OF THE STUDENTS DID NOT HAVE THESE DOCOMENTS, WHICH WAS A SIGNIFICANT BARRIER TO THEIR JOB READINESS. WITH MENTORS' GUIDANCE, THE STUDENTS WORKED WITH THEIR PARENTS TO OVERCOME THIS OBSTACLE AND BECOME JOB READY FOR EMPLOYMENT OR OPEN A BANK ACCOUNT.NO PREMIUMS WERE PAID TO ANYONE. | - | $93,976 |
