“In the midst of the 2020 covid-19 global pandemic, launchbio moved all in-person events to on-line virtual webinars starting in march 2020. In 2020 launchbio hosted 35 virtual programs with over 7,000 total registrations and an average show of 133 attendees per event. Launchbio events, which were regional, now offer a national platform for our partners and sponsors. Attendees have the option to interact with speakers by submitting questions before and during the event. We saw good interaction and the ability to connect with the experts by including contact information in the post-event follow-up. To ensure that we are delivering a unique product, the launchbio team has developed an updated content checklist: is the information presented relevant and understandable to our core audience? Does the presentation offer fresh insights? Are the speakers interesting and engaging? Is the panel diverse, offering unique perspectives? Does the audience have clear takeaways? Are the sponsors positioned as industry experts? Launchbio is committed to being the industry leader in connecting, educating and supporting life science innovators across the country. Maintaining quality control was a top priority in a virtual environment, both to differentiate ourselves from competitors and continue to engage an audience that may be experiencing "zoom burnout". Tracking trends and opportunities helped guide our programming, providing the most current and up to date information for our community. In 2020 launchbio started the let's talk about series to discuss issues of race and awareness in the life sciences industry. Diversity and inclusion not only translate to a more equitable future, but also provide a competitive advantage for companies that embrace new ideas and addressable markets. The discussions provided context for understanding the current social justice movement and its implications for company culture and attracting talent. Strategies and actionable take-aways discussed in this series are making a positive impact in the future of our industry. We received phenomenal feedback and requests to continue let's talk about in 2021. This series offers another avenue for partnership discussions and sponsorship opportunities. In 2020 launchbio also piloted founders circle forum in southern california in response to the need for highly curated, small group networking. This invitation-only program offers targeted curriculum and exposure to valuable industry experts, as well as connections to fellow founders of life science startups. The content is informed by a survey of 1,500 biotech entrepreneurs, ensuring that founders get help at the right stage of company development to help their businesses grow. Founders circle forums draw on industry leaders to address the following topics: smart ways to raise capital developing a long term strategic plan matching with a mentor hiring and retaining the right team working with a cro planning a regulatory strategy budgeting and financial forecasting we launched this program in partnership with biolabs sites in san diego and los angeles, reserving half of the seats for their members. The outcome was extremely positive and both participants and biolabs hq asked for additional programming. In 2021 we will execute 4 additional co-branded founders circle forums in partnership with biolabs, and have sold a total of 13 sponsor participation spots for 2021. Launchbio will begin a founder recruitment campaign in january for upcoming programs in boston, new york, philadelphia, durham and dallas. These small group forums will be among the first programs that will return to in-person events, once it is safe to do so, likely starting in fall 2021 in san diego and dallas.”
