The Chain Collaborative Supplemental information Schedule F 12-31-2023Region: Central AmericaNicaragua - In 2023, TCC supported Biblioteca Girasol, a community library in a coffee-growing region of Nicaragua, to offer scholarships to their youth volunteers so that they could attend high school. University scholarships were also provided to the librarys coordinators. TCC further supported the library to lead programming on leadership development for teens and after school classes for young children.Amount: $8,500.00Total Central America Amount $8,500Region: South AmericaPeru - In 2023, TCC directed relief funding to the Norandino Cooperative in northern Peru after intense flooding and landslides injured and killed members of nearby farming communities. The natural disasters also caused damage to homes, infrastructure, and crops. Funds supported the rebuilding efforts of Norandino members.Amount: $8,500.00Ecuador - In 2023, TCC supported three organizations in Ecuador. TCC first provided $1,000.00 in relief funding to Botanica, a coffee training school that experienced an unexpected break-in and subsequent robbery. TCC also provided $4,914.11 to Asoamazonas, an association of youth coffee farmers in the Ecuadorian Amazon, to support their new community library. This library offers reading and arts programming to children. Finally, TCC supported Alicia Roque Farms, an Ecuadorian social enterprise working to improve livelihoods of coffee farmers in Manab, Ecuador, with $14,200.00. This funding was used to equip Alicia Roque Farms processing center with new machinery, allowing the enterprise to improve the quality of their product and access better prices for member farmers.Amount: $20,114.11Colombia - In 2023, TCC supported AsoSeykn, an association of Arhuaco coffee farmers in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, Colombia, to build a set of coffee drying beds as well as a storage space. These infrastructure developments allowed the association of farmers to improve the quality of their green coffee and access better prices. Additionally, TCC supported training provision for AsoSeykn farmers, focused on coffee quality and coffee processing.Amount: $13,000.00Total South America Amount $41,614.11Region: Sub-Saharan AfricaUganda - In 2023, TCC provided support to four different organizations in southwestern Uganda. First, TCC supported Girl Power Foundation Uganda with $32,550. The funds were used to 1) provide vocational skills training to women; 2) raise mental health awareness in the community through workshops, sports, and drama events; 3) provide mentorship to girls in primary school; and 4) improve access to menstrual hygiene supplies. Second, TCC provided $131,500 to Now Africa Initiative, a social enterprise of small-scale coffee farmers. The funds were used to 1) purchase a truck to transport coffee to market; 2) make infrastructure improvements to the farmers coffee mill; and 3) conduct income diversification training, focused on soybean production and soy by-product development. Third, TCC supported the Karama Education Center, a primary school for NAI farmers, to offer $2,164.00 in scholarships to the best-performing graduates so they could attend secondary school. Fourth and finally, TCC provided $15,000 to Kyaffe Farmers Coffee, a social enterprise dedicated to increasing economic opportunity for women coffee farmers and educational access for children. TCCs support enabled Kyaffe Farmers Coffee to launch a barista training program in order for young women who have dropped out of school to develop an employable skill and access new job opportunities.Amount: $181,214.00Rwanda: In 2023, TCC supported Abateraninkunga ba Sholi (Sholi), a coffee cooperative in Rwanda, with $15,000 to launch a project for young, single mothers in their community. University scholarships were also provided to the librarys coordinators. TCC further supported the library to lead programming on leadership development for teens and after school classes for young children.Amount: $8,500.00Total Central America Amount $8,500Region: South AmericaPeru - In 2023, TCC directed relief funding to the Norandino Cooperative in northern Peru after intense flooding and landslides injured and killed members of nearby farming communities. The natural disasters also caused damage to homes, infrastructure, and crops. Funds supported the rebuilding efforts of Norandino members.Amount: $8,500.00Ecuador - In 2023, TCC supported three organizations in Ecuador. TCC first provided $1,000.00 in relief funding to Botanica, a coffee training school that experienced an unexpected break-in and subsequent robbery. TCC also provided $4,914.11 to Asoamazonas, an association of youth coffee farmers in the Ecuadorian Amazon, to support their new community library. This library offers reading and arts programming to children. Finally, TCC supported Alicia Roque Farms, an Ecuadorian social enterprise working to improve livelihoods of coffee farmers in Manab, Ecuador, with $14,200.00. This funding was used to equip Alicia Roque Farms processing center with new machinery, allowing the enterprise to improve the quality of their product and access better prices for member farmers.Amount: $20,114.11Colombia - In 2023, TCC supported AsoSeykn, an association of Arhuaco coffee farmers in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, Colombia, to build a set of coffee drying beds as well as a storage space. These infrastructure developments allowed the association of farmers to improve the quality of their green coffee and access better prices. Additionally, TCC supported training provision for AsoSeykn farmers, focused on coffee quality and coffee processing.Amount: $13,000.00Total South America Amount $41,614.11Region: Sub-Saharan AfricaUganda - In 2023, TCC provided support to four different organizations in southwestern Uganda. First, TCC supported Girl Power Foundation Uganda with $32,550. The funds were used to 1) provide vocational skills training to women; 2) raise mental health awareness in the community through workshops, sports, and drama events; 3) provide mentorship to girls in primary school; and 4) improve access to menstrual hygiene supplies. Second, TCC provided $131,500 to Now Africa Initiative, a social enterprise of small-scale coffee farmers. The funds were used to 1) purchase a truck to transport coffee to market; 2) make infrastructure improvements to the farmers coffee mill; and 3) conduct income diversification training, focused on soybean production and soy by-product development. Third, TCC supported the Karama Education Center, a primary school for NAI farmers, to offer $2,164.00 in scholarships to the best-performing graduates so they could attend secondary school. Fourth and finally, TCC provided $15,000 to Kyaffe Farmers Coffee, a social enterprise dedicated to increasing economic opportunity for women coffee farmers and educational access for children.
