Client Note 1

Client Note 1 - SCHEDULE F - PART I LINE 3 COLUMN EUganda: In 2018, TCC supported the continued construction of a coffee storage center for farmers associated with community-based organization Now Africa Initiative (NAI). Our support to NAI in 2018 also included the stocking of a school library and the construction of furnishings for their library room. Additionally, TCC supported the launch of a water, sanitation, and hygiene program, which included the construction of hand washing stations and the construction of a water storage tank at the school that NAI runs. TCC provided remote project management support to ensure the smooth operational functioning of these NAI projects. This included providing monitoring and evaluation support to ensure the project was meeting expected outcomes for community improvements.Ecuador: In 2018, TCC supported community-based organization the Association of Small Women Coffee Producers of Chaucha (AMC in Spanish) to finalize the construction of their central processing station to process and sell the coffee of local farmers. We also supported AMC to launch a technical assistance program, which allowed them to hire their first employee to provide agricultural technical assistance to the areas local farmers. Finally, TCC providedproject management and monitoring and evaluation support to the group, and two volunteers donated their time on-site in Ecuador to assist AMC to build a coffee quality assurance program and provide business development support.Nicaragua: In 2018, TCC supported community-based farmer cooperative Las Diosas to complete a beekeeping project to build alternative sources of income for their associated farmers. TCC supported a training on how to use honey by-products to create products for sale. In addition, TCC began to support the implementation of a food sovereignty program for Las Diosas so that they could build seed reserves in their associated communities. Finally, we supported Las Diosas to conduct soil tests and create new fertilizers for their technical assistance program that could better respond to the deficiencies of individual farmers soils. TCC also provided project management and monitoring and evaluation support along with support in organizational development and strategic planning.
