“Lunch & comaraderie - to provide adults 60 years of age or older who live in the whitko school district with nutritional meals, opportunities for social engagement, and structured educational programs two days per week. The program serves on average 85 meals per week for guests eating in and meals delivered to the local homebound. Each program begins with chair exercises at 10:30am, meal at 11:00am, and the educational program at 12:00pm. Kids connect program - to provide lunch meals to children 18 years of age and younger during the summer months. Along with over 9 adult and high school volunteers, 900 lunches were served over 9 weeks with close to 20 kids per day.”
“Empower us - to provide a mentoring program for elementary aged students. One community has partnered with south whitley elementary school to offer the mentoring program. Volunteers include 23 adults from the community who have been paired with an elementary aged student. The mentor meets with the child for 30 minutes a week during school hours. During this time, they work on goal setting, reinforcement of the word of the month, and visit while doing fun activities, such as playing games, reading and drawing.”
“One community absorbed a small preschool in the 2016-2017 school year. The vision for the preschool is to continuously strive to maintain a happy, safe, and nurturing environment while providing a high quality preschool program, one of the main goals is to prepare children for kindergarten. We will provide experiences that meet children's needs and stimulate learning in all developmental areas: physical, social, emotional and intellectual. In the 2016-2017 school year, 19 children attended the preschool and 8 were on scholarship.”

IN THE 2016-2017 SCHOOL YEAR, 19 CHILDREN ATTENDED THE PRESCHOOL AND 8 WERE ON SCHOLARSHIP. |
