“Since 2019, 350 Seattle has had a Model A fiscally sponsored project that works to hold Amazon accountable in the pursuit of climate justice (this aligns with our mission because it falls under our work to hold corporations accountable for the climate crisis). In 2022, we took on an additional Model A fiscally sponsored project, also under the umbrella of corporate accountability, that focuses on divestment and pressuring banks, asset managers and insurance companies to divest from fossil fuels. At the end of 2022, 350 Seattle had two Model A fiscally sponsored projects. The first project works to hold Amazon accountable in the pursuit of climate justice. This aligns with our mission because it falls under our work to hold corporations accountable for the climate crisis. The other project also falls under the umbrella of corporate accountability; it focuses on divestment and pressuring banks, asset managers and insurance companies to divest from fossil fuels. In 2023, 350 Seattle took on a third Model A fiscally sponsored project. This project works to create a framework for community-led reparations in Seattle, King County, and surrounding counties. This effort to promote racial healing, equity, and justice for Black communities and the broader public aligns with our mission to foster resilient, just, and welcoming communities.”

“Divestment and Corporate Accountability - Amazon Employees for Climate Justice (AECJ) a fiscally sponsored project of 350 Seattle, continued to organize the tech workers who care about climate justice, with an increased focus on holding Amazon accountable for breaking climate commitmments, and also dangerous working conditions in extreme heat for warehouse workers and delivery drivers. AECJ supported tech workers in organizing a walkout with 2,150+ Amazon employees to show support for stronger climate action and flexible, remote work, voicing opposition to Amazons broken climate promises and broken promises around remote work. AECJ organized educational events for tech workers, including a session with warehouse workers who are organizing for protections from working in extreme heat and discussion sessions with climate scientists. AECJ supported tech workers in conducting an in-depth research assessment of Amazons climate record and progress on its Climate Pledge.Stop the Money Pipeline (STMP), another fiscally sponsored project of 350 Seattle, launched a campaign on Costco, urging them to clean up their climate reputation by dropping its credit card sponsor Citibank. As part of this campaign, STMP launched a petition that gathered 40,000 signatures which organizers delivered to Costcos headquarters in January 2024. STMP also supported BIPOC communities and frontline communities fighting the Mountain Valley Pipeline, the EACOP pipeline in Uganda, the LNG buildout in the Gulf South, and Wall Streets exploitation in Puerto Rico.Movement Building & Support - After a three-year COVID hiatus, 350 Seattle relaunched in-person community meetings. This monthly space replaces our introductory phone calls and serves as a place to direct new volunteers, share learnings and updates from teams across the organization, and build community. Between 50-75 people attend Climate Community Night. Our leadership team, which consists of our core volunteers, has continued to evolve and has around 30 members.Our artful activism team remains a core part of our local activities. The artful activism team hosted over a dozen art-making parties, with at least 100 people attending or a variety of causes, including housing justice, antiwar, and climate advocacy.In addition to art-related trainings, 350 Seattle hosted training for community organizations on a number of skills including protest history, how to de-escalate conflicts, legal rights of individuals, strategy for social movements, digital security, corporate research, and protest planning.Our Story Circle team intends to publish the 3rd edition of its self-published climate art magazine. Story Circle also helped relaunch the 350 Seattle blog, The Current. 350 Seattle Attended a planning retreat for the 350 Network Council, a coalition of the 10 largest 350 groups in in the United States. The Network Council and 350 Seattle have launched a campaign to pressure public utilities to transition the energy grid off of fossil fuels and invest in clean energy.Community Solutions - In 2023, 350 Seattle built on the success of our previous campaigns and ran our Electrify Seattle campaign to move the largest buildings downtown off fossil fuels. We organized to pass first-in-the-region Building Emissions Performance Standards, which will eliminate 10% of Seattles climate pollution, create thousands of green union jobs and bring life-saving cooling to people accross Seattle. We found a way to turn this very wonky issue into a lever for power that exposed the behind-the-scenes political dealings of major business owners in this city. We shifted the political landscape, putting ourselves squarely at the table as a major player to be reckoned with in climate policy development.350 Seattle has found its niche at the state level as well and each year we learn and iterate on how we can build power and have a significant impact in our legislative process.
