“Divestment and Corporate Accountability: 350 Seattle began a campaign to push the Washington State Investment Board (WSIB) to transition out of the fossil fuel industry, invest in climate solutions, and use its proxy voting to push corporations towards responsible climate action. Our campaign recruited over 100 pension holders from our community to pressure the WSIB. With union members and local leaders, we created a statewide labor table of public and private unions to engage the WISB on climate.Amazon Employees for Climate Justice (AECJ), a fiscally sponsored project of 350 Seattle, supported workers in the tech industry in raising awareness about the climate impacts of data centers and other tech operations. AECJ provided training, educational materials, and other support so that workers could increase awareness and education on environmental issues among their colleagues working in the tech industry as well as the general public. This included researching and publishing a report about the environmental degredation caused by tech industrys rapid expansion of data centers and other infrastructure, conducting a survey of tech workers sentiments on these issues, and publishing the survey results in aggregate. AECJ also provided community-building opportuntities for tech workers to bridge divides with low-wage workers and communities most impacted by tech infrastructure.Stop the Money Pipeline (STMP), a fiscally sponsored project of 350 Seattle, advocated for clean energy solutions to the climate crisis by engaging thousands of everyday people in dozens of events, discussions, and online forums. In 2024, STMP hosted a series of workshops to hear from organizers on the frontlines of the climate crisis and learn how supporters can join in and uplift their work to bring about environmental justice.Community Solutions: 350 Seattle supported the House Our Neighbors (HON) campaign to pass Prop 1a, a transformative initiative to fund green, social housing for Seattle. This was part of our Green New Deal body of work, as housing justice and climate justice are deeply intertwined. 350 Seattle launched a dedicated peer-to-peer outreach effort, reaching out to approximately 2,000 voters. We contributed to the campaigns media and social media strategies, hosted events, and created campaign art.Our Civic Action Team (CAT) empowered people to advocate in the Washington state legislature to pass strong, sound, and just climate policy while strengthening partnerships and relationships. In 2024, we doubled our capacity to 65 active volunteers. These volunteers worked on 72 bills and budget provisos and drive over 61,000 legislative advocacy actions including comments left on bills, sign-ins pro or against a bill, and emails sent to legislators.350 Seattle continued as an active member of the Seattle Solidarity Budget Coalition (SSB). Community members in SSB advocated for the City of Seattle to invest in public support services, funding for affordable housing, and climate investments. In 2024, SSB advocated against increased video and audio surveillance in the city.The Seattle-King County African American Reparations Committee (SAARC), a fiscally sponsored project of 350 Seattle, worked to create a framework for community-led reparations in Seattle, King County, and surrounding counties. This effort is to promote racial healing, equity, and justice for Black communities and the broader public. This is part of 350 Seattles work to foster resilient, just, and welcoming communities.Movement Building Support: 350 Seattle hosted Climate Community Night most months in 2024. This is a space for community members - from seasoned volunteers to new folks - to come together to eat, build community, and take action. We averaged 75 attendees at each event.Our Artful Activism team created beautiful, powerful art for our campaigns, for our allies and for the whole movement ecosystem.
