IRS990/Desc0CDTC completed 21 volunteer events and supported over 200 volunteers who contributed over 25,500 volunteer hours of labor and added 6 new partnerships to its work. CDTC hosted 6 Trail Adopter trainings and had 37 new CDTC Trail Adopters in 2021, with the adoption of 77 additional miles of the CDT. CDTC continued work to support forest plan revisions across the CDT and including the Carson, Santa Fe, Cibola National Forests. This includes filing objections to the final draft decisions of these mentioned Forest Plans. CDTC participated in public comment processes to address Military Maneuvers affecting the CDT in southern NM. CDTC hired a New Mexico Regional Representative and began working to further strengthen relationships across the communities through which the CDT traverses and CDTC participated in at least 6 proposed agency projects affecting the CDT including vegetation management activities in the Lewis and Clark National Forest. CDTC released the Connecting across the Continent Report to align CDTC cooperative stewardship efforts with the American the Beautiful initiative and continued work to complete the Trail with much headway being accomplished in the Muddy Pass Colorado, Manga Valley, NM, and Pie Town NM areas.

CDTC hosted its second annual virtual Gateway Community Summit with over 50 participants from across the trail. CDTC continued to increase the support of communities and increase consistency of relationships by increasing meetings with communities by 100%. Gateway Community Ambassadors hosted a total of 16 events, contributing over 40 volunteer hours to help over 200 Gateway Community residents access the Continental Divide Trail near their home. CDTC began working on information and marketing materials to support Hidalgo County, NM, in marketing itself as a Gateway to the Continental Divide Trail. CDTC produced and printed local access maps for the communities of Lake City, CO, and Helena, MT. CDTC supported CDT events in Grants and Chama, NM; Grand Lake and Leadville, CO; and in Butte, Helena, and Anaconda, MT. CDTC conducted its bi-annual Small Business Survey examining attitudes about the CDT and public lands in communities along the trail.

CDTC translated and printed the New Mexico Trail Guides in Spanish. CDTC hosted Latino Conservation week events in Santa Fe, Chama, Grants, and Silver City, NM. CDTC continued highlighting untold stories of the Continental Divide through its story series, Voices of the Continental Divide. CDTC supported diverse and inclusive public lands by contributing to Next 100 Colorado's efforts including landscape analysis and mentorship programs. CDTC hosted an intern in partnership with the American Indian College Fund and supported the Bridge Project effort. CDTC Board approved a formal incident and emergency response policy to support working with Law Enforcement, Search and Rescue Organizations and other entities should incidents arise along the CDT in the future.
