“The organization does not have committees.”
“The organization did not provide a final copy of this form 990 to its board of directors before filing the form. However, the board meets on a regular basis to review the financial records from which the form 990 is prepared. The final form 990, as filed, will be e-mailed to the board upon completion, and is always available for review upon request.”
“The conflict of interest policy uniformly applies to all directors, officers and employees of the organization who may have a direct or indirect "financial interest". Mission 14's board of directors administers and interprets the policy and reviews it periodically for adequacy. The periodic reviews include whether compensation arrangements and benefits are reasonable and the result of arm's length bargaining; and whether any partnerships, joint ventures and related relationships conform to mission 14's written policies, are properly recorded, reflect reasonable terms, further its charitable purposes and do not result in inurement, impermissible private benefit or an excess benefit transaction. After disclosure of the financial interest and all material facts, and after any discussion with the individual, the board of directors determines whether a conflict of interest exists. The individual who is involved is excused from the meeting and does not participate in the deliberations. If the board determines a conflict exists, the individual is given an opportunity to explain the alleged failure to disclose. If, after hearing the response and after making further investigation as warranted by the circumstances, the board of directors determines the individual has failed to disclose an actual or possible conflict of interest, it shall take appropriate disciplinary and corrective action.”
“The executive director's salary is reviewed and approved by the board of directors on an annual basis. There are no conflicts of interest. Documentation of all deliberations & decisions regarding the compensation are kept by the board. No other officers are compensated and there are no key employees.”
“The organization's governing documents and financial records are available for public inspection upon request.”

THE 6 SUMMITS CHALLENGE WAS ROOTED IN THE PHILOSOPHY THAT LOVE,JUSTICE, AND COMPASSION ARE ACTIONS THAT CANNOT BE ACCOMPLISHED FROM THE SIDELINES.HOWEVER, A 7.8 MAGNITUDE EARTHQUAKE HIT NEPAL, CAUSING AN ICE CLIFF TO SHEAR OFF, CREATING AN AVALANCHE THAT SENT MANY TONS OF ICE CRASHING MORE THAN 2,000 VERTICAL FEET DOWN TOWARD EVEREST BASE CAMP. 18 DEATHS AND NUMEROUS INJURIES RESULTED ON EVEREST. MORE THAN 8,000 PEOPLE IN NEPAL AND THE ADJOINING AREAS OF INDIA, CHINA, AND BANGLADESH LOST THEIR LIVES. IN LIGHT OF THAT HORRIFIC TRAGEDY, THE NEPAL-BASED CLIMBS OF MOUNT EVEREST, LHOTSE, AND MAKALU SCHEDULED FOR THE SPRING AS PART OF THE 6 SUMMITS CHALLENGE WERE CANCELLED. THE 6 SUMMITS CHALLENGE TEAM, WHO WERE PRESENT ON MOUNT EVEREST BASE CAMP DURING THE AVALANCHE, PROVIDED AID IN KATHMANDU AND THE GORKHA REGION ALONGSIDE MISSION 14'S NEWER PARTNER ORGANIZATIONS TINY HANDS INTERNATIONAL, SHARED HOPE, AND CATHOLIC RELIEF SERVICES. THE TEAM SHARED GEAR, FOOD, AND WATER AND ASSISTED WITH RESCUE, RECOVERY AND REHABILITATION EFFORTS AFTER THE DISASTER. THIS ADVENTURE WAS ALSO A CALL TO INDIVIDUAL ACTION, TO "BE BRAVE". THE RESULT WAS NOT JUST FUNDS RAISED TO SUPPORT OUR EXISTING AND NEW PARTNER ORGANIZATIONS ON THE FRONT LINES, BUT AN ARMY OF DIFFERENCE MAKERS AT HOME, IN COMMUNITIES AND THE WORKPLACE. WE CONTINUED OUR PARTNERSHIPS WITH ORPHANETWORK AND ARAMINTA FREEDOM INITIATIVE. ORPHANETWORK - WE CONTINUED TO SUPPORT THE SEWING CENTER AND COMPLETED THE PROCESS FOR IT TO SUCCESSFULLY BECOME ITS OWN NGO IN NICARAGUA. IT CONTINUED TO PRODUCE T-SHIRTS AND OTHER MERCHANDISE WHICH WERE SOLD IN ITS STORE, TO CHURCHES AND OTHER ORGANIZATIONS. ALL PROCEEDS FROM SALES WERE GIVEN DIRECTLY BACK TO THE SEWING CENTER. WE ALSO PROVIDED A SPECIAL GRANT TO SUPPORT AN 11 YEAR OLD TRAFFICKING SURVIVOR IN ONE OF ORPHANETWORK'S PARTNER HOMES AND FOR TRAINING OF THE CAREGIVERS AND LEADERS OF THE LOCAL CHURCHES.FOR ARAMINTA FREEDOM INITIATIVE, WE CONTINUED WITH UNRESTRICTED GIVING, HELPING TO SUPPORT ITS VOLUNTEER AEM TRAINING PROGRAM (AWAKEN, EQUIP, MOBILIZE), COMMUNITY-BASED TRAINING AND AWARENESS PROGRAMS, CHURCH ENGAGEMENT AND AFTERCARE FOR SURVIVORS. MISSION 14 ALSO DEVELOPED NEW PARTNERSHIPS IN 2015 WITH OTHER LIKE-MINDED ORGANIZATIONS WHO ARE MOVING THIS FIGHT FORWARD AND TO FURTHER OUR MISSION AS STATED ABOVE. THESE ORGANIZATIONS WERE ALSO VETTED THROUGH AN APPLICATION PROCESS TO BETTER UNDERSTAND THEIR MISSION AND VALUES AND HOW WE COULD POTENTIALLY SUPPORT THEM. ORGANIZATIONS WERE SELECTED ON THE BASIS OF ORGANIZATIONAL FOCUS, INTERESTS, REPUTATION, RESOURCES, GEOGRAPHIC AND SERVICE DIVERSITY. ALL RECEIVED FINAL APPROVAL BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS. WE PROVIDED A SPECIAL GRANT TO SHARED HOPE INTERNATIONAL FOR ITS FIRST JUST (JUVENILE SEX TRAFFICKING) FAITH CONFERENCE. THIS HELPED TO SUPPORT ITS EFFORTS TO BRING LEARNING AND ACTION TO THE FAITH COMMUNITY. THIS INCLUDED PROVIDING ATTENDEES WITH A RESOURCE KIT TO EQUIP THEM WITH FIGHTING HUMAN TRAFFICKING IN THEIR LOCAL COMMUNITIES. TINY HANDS INTERNAT |
