Activity 2

The vintage shoppe collects donated used items for resale and is open at least 44 hours a week for shopping and conversation. The vintage shop entrepreneurs also sell on the internet and offer ebay training courses to help persons with disabilities and retired elderly start their own home based internet sales businesses. In 2011 the foundation offered five courses at the vintage shoppe and the senior center. The teaching team also developed an internet training package that includes an organizational start guid, a trainers manual with power point demonstrations and a trainee manual. The package is offered in digital format to other non profit organizations for a small fee. The trainee manual also is being redesigned as a digital book and will be for sale on amazon. Funds to prepare the training manual for distribution were provided by the evangelical lutheran church of america's community development division.

Activity 3

Micks furniture workshop and the ramp chore program provide furniture refinishing, floor refinishing, small home repair, haulign services, cleaning services and snow removal. The work also offers an opportunity for disabled and elderly persons to supplement meager incomes. In 2011 several new micro enterprises were assisted as start ups, incluidng conroy tech services, golden carrot bakery and josephs repair shop. The bakery and josephs were assisted with micro finance loans enabled to a $2,500 grant from the campaign for human development of the bishops relief fund from davenport. The 90-day loans were paid back on schedule with 1 percent interest. Three other consultations on micro enterprise start ups were provided but their assisted business plans indicated they were not viable even as micro enterprises. In most cases they lacked an adequate market to justify the cost and effort.
