“Uptown bills provides a safe and sober environment for area residents, including people with disabilities, the elderly and underage students. The center offers coffee and ice cream, as well as used books for sale. An art gallery features local artists. Programming includes concerts,readings and exhibits, with live music every saturday night at 7 p.m. And sometimes other evenings as well. In 2016 the venue hosted 384 support group meetings. 125 volunteers participated in various enterprises. 298 people performed at open mic night, and 106 people read poetry at sopken word events. More than 1,000 people received bill's newsletter, were friends on facebook, or connected via twitter. 400 videos from various events were posted on you tube. More than 2,000 people attended concerts and performances. The organization collaborated with various community agencies, providing rehearsal and performance space for combined efforts theatre and providing space for support groups involved with programs such as brain injury, autism, mental health, caregivers and alcoholics and narcotics anonymous. It co-sponsored an expressive arts group with access to independence and ocmbined efforts theatre, worked with transitions and high school work experience programs, participated in yes summer youth employment and sponsored a local tv show on abilities awareness with patv (public access television).”

IN 2016 THE VENUE HOSTED 384 SUPPORT GROUP MEETINGS. 125 VOLUNTEERS PARTICIPATED IN VARIOUS ENTERPRISES. 298 PEOPLE PERFORMED AT OPEN MIC NIGHT, AND 106 PEOPLE READ POETRY AT SOPKEN WORD EVENTS. MORE THAN 1,000 PEOPLE RECEIVED BILL'S NEWSLETTER, WERE FRIENDS ON FACEBOOK, OR CONNECTED VIA TWITTER. 400 VIDEOS FROM VARIOUS EVENTS WERE POSTED ON YOU TUBE. MORE THAN 2,000 PEOPLE ATTENDED CONCERTS AND PERFORMANCES. THE ORGANIZATION COLLABORATED WITH VARIOUS COMMUNITY AGENCIES, PROVIDING REHEARSAL AND PERFORMANCE SPACE FOR COMBINED EFFORTS THEATRE AND PROVIDING SPACE FOR SUPPORT GROUPS INVOLVED WITH PROGRAMS SUCH AS BRAIN INJURY, AUTISM, MENTAL HEALTH, CAREGIVERS AND ALCOHOLICS AND NARCOTICS ANONYMOUS. IT CO-SPONSORED AN EXPRESSIVE ARTS GROUP WITH ACCESS TO INDEPENDENCE AND OCMBINED EFFORTS THEATRE, WORKED WITH TRANSITIONS AND HIGH SCHOOL WORK EXPERIENCE PROGRAMS, PARTICIPATED IN YES SUMMER YOUTH EMPLOYMENT AND SPONSORED A LOCAL TV SHOW ON ABILITIES AWARENESS WITH PATV (PUBLIC ACCESS TELEVISION). |
