Extend the dream foundation's mission is to nurture and encourage poeple with disabilities by providing a gatherineg place to nurture and encourage individuals with disabilities, provide individuals of all abilities the opportunity to participate in a varieyty of activities and educate the larger community by building abilities awareness. Uptown bill's, the organization's coffee house and neighborhood art center, offers a place where poeple of all abilities work, volunteer and participate togoether in a variety of activities and events.

Uptown bill's, the organization's coffee house, neighborhood art center and used book store offers a place where people of all abilities work, volunteer and participate together in a variety of activities and events.

Form 990-ez, Part III, Line 28

Uptown bills provides a safe and sober environment for area residents, including people with disabilities, the elderly and underage students. The center offers coffee and ice cream, as well as used books for sale. An art gallery features local artists. Programming includes concerts,readings and exhibits, with live music every saturday night at 7 p.m. And sometimes other evenings as well. In 2017 the venue hosted 384 support group meetings. 122 volunteers participated in various enterprises. 350 people performed at open mic night, and 142 people read poetry at spoken word events. 1,013 people received bill's coffeeshop newsletter; 1,823 participated in the organization's facebook pages; 1,600 people were connected via twitter, and 584 videos from various events were posted on the uptown bill's playlist on you tube. The organization collaborated with various community agencies and support groups and hosted expressive arts, an arts and crafts program, in cooperation with access to independence and combined efforts. A local tv show focusing on abilities awareness and produced in cooperation with public access television and others has now been on the air for more than five years. Extend the dream also co-sponsors the annual celebration of the american with disabilities act held each july in downtown iowa city. Co- sponsors of stage performance opportunites inlcuded iowa writers house, united nations association, ihearic, little village magazine, access to independence and a host of university of iowa student groups.

THE CENTER OFFERS COFFEE AND ICE CREAM, AS WELL AS USED BOOKS FOR SALE. AN ART GALLERY FEATURES LOCAL ARTISTS. PROGRAMMING INCLUDES CONCERTS,READINGS AND EXHIBITS, WITH LIVE MUSIC EVERY SATURDAY NIGHT AT 7 P.M. AND SOMETIMES OTHER EVENINGS AS WELL. IN 2017 THE VENUE HOSTED 384 SUPPORT GROUP MEETINGS. 122 VOLUNTEERS PARTICIPATED IN VARIOUS ENTERPRISES. 350 PEOPLE PERFORMED AT OPEN MIC NIGHT, AND 142 PEOPLE READ POETRY AT SPOKEN WORD EVENTS. 1,013 PEOPLE RECEIVED BILL'S COFFEESHOP NEWSLETTER; 1,823 PARTICIPATED IN THE ORGANIZATION'S FACEBOOK PAGES; 1,600 PEOPLE WERE CONNECTED VIA TWITTER, AND 584 VIDEOS FROM VARIOUS EVENTS WERE POSTED ON THE UPTOWN BILL'S PLAYLIST ON YOU TUBE. THE ORGANIZATION COLLABORATED WITH VARIOUS COMMUNITY AGENCIES AND SUPPORT GROUPS AND HOSTED EXPRESSIVE ARTS, AN ARTS AND CRAFTS PROGRAM, IN COOPERATION WITH ACCESS TO INDEPENDENCE AND COMBINED EFFORTS. A LOCAL TV SHOW FOCUSING ON ABILITIES AWARENESS AND PRODUCED IN COOPERATION WITH PUBLIC ACCESS TELEVISION AND OTHERS HAS NOW BEEN ON THE AIR FOR MORE THAN FIVE YEARS. EXTEND THE DREAM ALSO CO-SPONSORS THE ANNUAL CELEBRATION OF THE AMERICAN WITH DISABILITIES ACT HELD EACH JULY IN DOWNTOWN IOWA CITY. CO- SPONSORS OF STAGE PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITES INLCUDED IOWA WRITERS HOUSE, UNITED NATIONS ASSOCIATION, IHEARIC, LITTLE VILLAGE MAGAZINE, ACCESS TO INDEPENDENCE AND A HOST OF UNIVERSITY OF IOWA STUDENT GROUPS.
