Dislocated Workers: HIRED helped 5,100 dislocated workers regain their footing after layoffs through reemployment and retraining assistance. those assisted ranged from entry-level production workers to experienced corporate professionals who have been laid off from their jobs. strengths of hired's program include our ability to offer customized training programs for small groups of job seekers (e.g. project management, IT certifications) and our newly redesigned job search readiness program. job search readiness has proven particularly effective at preparing workers over the age of 40 to effectively market themselves to hiring managers. despite the current tight job market, hired's dislocated worker programs continue to successfully assist job seekers.

Activity 3

YOUTH: HIRED's youth services are designed to encourage completion of high school and post-secondary training and to assist with the development of work habits and career-building skills. HIRED helps youth in foster care prepare to live independently and helps youth offenders turn their lives around through a personalized approach to career development, leadership activities, mentoring, volunteer and paid internships, service-learning, and work. HIRED assisted 995 low-income urban young people in 2010.
