Supplemental Narrative

Additional Explanations

Form 990, Part III, Line 2

On november 1, 2016, lyngblomsten launched 2nd half with lyngblomsten-an integrative approach to supporting adults aging well in their communities. This new model of service repackaged and expanded the community-based services lyngblomsten had previously offered as separate programs-including the 5-5-1 club community center, community health and wellness opportunities, care team ministry, the parish nurse ministry resource group, the gathering, and caregiver resources and support.

Form 990, Part III, Line 3

In an effort to focus its services to st. Paul and the eastern twin cities, lyngblomsten transitioned management of its three west-metro locations of the gathering (daytime group respite program) to avinity, a faith-based nonprofit. The three sites (all located in the west metro) were bethlehem lutheran in minneapolis, oak knoll in minnetonka, and calvary lutheran in golden valley. Lyngblomsten sold the superior street cottages, independent senior rentals located in the west 7th neighborhood of st. Paul. This change is also part of lyngblomsten's strategic effort to focus and rebalance its offerings in the northeast quadrant of the twin cities.

Financial Statement Notes

PART X, LINE 2:

The organization has been granted exempt status relative to federal and minnesota corporate income taxes under section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code and applicable state codes. The organization follows the guidance in the income tax standard regarding the recognition and measurement of uncertain tax positions. The guidance clarifies the accounting for uncertainty in income taxes recognized in an entity's financial statements. The guidance further prescribes recognition and measurement of tax provisions taken or expected to be taken on a tax return that are not certain to be realized. The application of this standard has no impact on the organization's financial statements.
