“Communication, education and advocacy peace action mails action alerts to its membership list and sends daily updates to its list of affiliates and online activists. Peace action provides supporters weekly email alerts on crucial peace issues. Peace action continues to support and grow its online activist list with over 95,000 members and groups, reaching another 100,000 activists via peace action national and affiliate listservs. Peace action maintains its website at www.peaceaction.org. Justice not war the outbreak of wars on gaza and ukraine, now in its third year, bring with them the threat of escalation, up to and including the existential threat of nuclear war. A series of complex policy issues, like the demand for a ceasefire in each of these wars, confront our supporters and the general public. Peace action serves as a clearinghouse for reliable information and offers policy alternatives for those who favor a peaceful resolution to each conflict. Peace action has also continued its work to end the saudi-led war on yemen, where a fragile ceasefire is in effect at present. The war on gaza has further complicated efforts to secure a peace agreement. In february, peace action worked to build participation in march 1st mobilizations, helping organize protests in california, massachusetts, minnesota, new york, pennsylvania, rhode island, vermont, washington and elsewhere. Virtual lobby days were also organized in june in support of our full agenda including a ceasefire in ukraine, peace for yemen, right-sizing the pentagon budget and abolishing nuclear weapons. Last year, the demand for a ceasefire in gaza and an end to us weapons transfers to israel became a priority focus of our work. Peace action worked to support a senate resolution calling for an investigation of israel's indiscriminate bombing campaign in gaza offered by senator bernie sanders of vermont. At the same time, peace action worked in support of an amendment by senator chris van hollen that would put strings on any new military funding for israel in order to prevent u.s. Military equipment from being used in violations of human rights. In december, peace action joined our coalition partners in organizing for a global day of actions in support of a ceasefire on the 18th. Budget priorities peace action organized several calling and email campaigns around key votes in congress on military budget issues and generated hundreds of news articles and letters to the editor in local press across the country around its people's budget campaign. Peace action chapters and members annually participate in tax day actions across the us as part of the global days of action on military spending. For several years now, peace action chapters have led dozens of tax day actions, a staple of local organizing around the country. Peace action chapters conducted public education and outreach events and with the assistance from the national office, disseminated fact sheets and organized resources to help make these events effective. Disarmament peace action participates in the nuclear weapons working group, back from the brink, the alliance for nuclear accountability, people over pentagon, the korea peace network, iran working group, and the fissile materials working group to coordinate advocacy and actions around a broad range of issues from budget cuts in nuclear weapons spending to advocacy for a un approved ban on nuclear weapons. Peace action supported bills in both the house and senate in pursuit of the abolition of nuclear weapons. Peace action continued its campaign to cut funding for the 1.7 trillion-dollar upgrade and expansion of the entire u.s. Nuclear weapons complex. Peace action continued its support legislation designed to slash u.s. Nuclear weapons expenditures by at least $100 billion over the next decade. The bills peace action supports serve as a focal point for congressional education and grassroots organizing around nuclear weapons issues, serving as a policy alt”
