Activity 2

Membership Services:The Department of Membership is responsible for developing and executing initiatives that provide significant financial and volunteer resources to support the AOA's mission by retaining and recruiting 45,443 members. Membership projects build awareness of overall AOA programs that ultimately lead to improved quality of patient care, such as the iLearn Mentor Program, the Clinical Assessment Program, practice management programs for young physicians, and leadership development opportunities and information for students, interns and residents.

Activity 3

Publications:The AOA publishes peer-reviewed scientific articles in its publications that provide continuing medical education (CME) to osteopathic physicians (DOs) and other readers. The articles also complement the medical education of osteopathic medical students. The peer-reviewed publications include The Journal of the American Osteopathic Association (JAOA), JAOA supplements, AOA Health Watch and Dialogue and Diagnosis. The print publications, aimed at educating physicians so they can take better care of patients, are distributed to more than 40,000 primary care DOs and select specialists as well as medical and scientific libraries. More than 80,000 DOs and osteopathic medical students receive the online versions of these publications and the AOA's online news publication, The DO, to keep DOs and osteopathic medical students up-to-date on the profession.
