Activity 2

Symphony Center Presents Concerts -- Symphony Center Presents is the CSO's guest artist series featuring well-known classical artists, as well as musicians from outside the classical genre, at Symphony Center. Approximately 50 concerts were presented during the fiscal year, selling more than 81,000 tickets to jazz, chamber music, orchestra, piano, and new music events. These concerts featured both established artistic leaders and up-and-coming musicians, and welcomed diverse audiences to hear a wide variety of musical styles. SCP programs include an Orchestra series, Chamber series, Piano series, and Jazz at Symphony Center. SCP Jazz is one of the most comprehensive and widely-heralded jazz series in the country, spotlighting some of the world's most famous jazz artists.

Activity 3

Education Concerts and Activities -- The CSO's Institute for Learning, Access and Training conducts more than 20 annual programs sharing music's transformative power with youth, schools, teachers, families, seniors, and underserved populations. More than 100,000 children experienced music education and concert activities in 2012/13, and more than 600 teachers, musicians, teaching artists, and volunteers were trained to share music with students and communities. The Institute conducted over 450 in-school programs, including events in Chicago Public Schools and juvenile detention facilities. Free tickets and transportation was offered to traditionally underserved communities, and free concerts in schools, parks and community venues demonstrate the importance of music as a part of everyday life.
